This time I'm cosplaying Haman from Azur Lane, and the shooting theme is Haman kitty. To restore that cute feeling of being a bit tsundere yet very clingy, I communicated many details with the photographer in advance. The outfit is a multi-layered pink-and-white striped fluffy skirt, paired with a white crop-top halter, puff-sleeve arm sleeves, and a plush tail prop on the back tied with a pink bow. To better present Haman's setting, it was specially matched with bright pink patent leather Mary Jane heels and white long stockings, unifying the overall tone between pink and white with a very clean visual effect. The wig part chose long white twin tails, with bangs trimmed to an appropriate length; the cat-ear headband on top with blue geometric lines is a key prop, and the pink mini hat also added a lot of exquisite texture. In terms of makeup, blue colored contacts were used, with eye makeup focusing on the lower eyelids and blush, attempting to create a doll-like exquisite feel that withstands close-up scrutiny when nearing the lens.
The shooting day took place in an all-white studio, with the only prop being a vintage white wooden table. Such a minimalist background actually has very high demands on the character's expressiveness, because without an environment to rely on, emotions must be conveyed entirely through body language and gaze. For the first group of poses, I chose to squat on the table surface, turning my head back sideways with hands crossed in front of my chest, aiming to highlight a sense of guarded yet curious feeling, while nicely showcasing the layers of the skirt and the white long stockings. Later, I tried a posture lying prone on the table, exposing only eyes and hands; this close-up shot intensely tests the gaze, bringing a direct emotional impact when paired with the blue colored contacts. The photo sitting on the edge of the table was intended to emphasize the overall proportion of the clothing, with one leg bent at the knee and the center of gravity shifted back, making the bright pink high heels the visual focal point of the frame. The most satisfying part is still the composition of holding both fists up in front of the chest to make cat-claw gestures, along with the candid snapshot of half-squatting to flex biceps; although it looks somewhat funny, it truly fits Haman kitty's character trait of being full of vitality while occasionally liking to throw little temper tantrums.
Every time I cosplay such anime-style characters, the most time-consuming part is actually the early preparation and the understanding of the character. From setting the wig styling to placing accessories, and mastering the focal point of every movement, everything requires repeated practice in front of the mirror. During this shoot, to embody the agility of a kitty, I deliberately pressed my center of gravity very low, and the amplitude of movements was larger than usual cosplay shoots. The pure white background plus bright studio lighting impose very high demands on the clothing's material and the smoothness of makeup; fortunately, the final finished photos retained the texture of the pink-and-white stripes on the clothing and clearly recorded details like the golden bell and the bow. Shooting this set of photos made me quite tired overall, but those moments in front of the lens where I completely transformed into Haman brought immense satisfaction. I also hope friends who like this styling can feel this unique charm belonging to Azur Lane's Haman.
