This release features Jsspsi's cosplay feature photos. To restore the settings in Endfield, a lot of thought went into the costumes and props during the preparation stage. The dragon horns of the headpiece needed to be processed with that bone-like texture and gradient feel; the golden hair ornament on the forehead and the elf ears were also adjusted multiple times to ensure a secure fit and natural look in front of the lens. The costume is made of blue-and-white spliced sheer gauze material, featuring metallic edging and hanging ornaments, giving it a wonderful drape when walking.
To highlight the character's non-human traits, a huge scaled tail was custom-made. During production, a glossy material was deliberately chosen to exhibit an effect similar to real scales under lighting. In terms of makeup, aside from regular base makeup, the focus was placed on choosing bright blue contact lenses, paired with a silver-gray wig to get close to that cool, slightly exotic ambiance. Some blending was done at the edges of the eye makeup to add a hint of innocence.
The studio setup this time was also quite complex. The main body used a large amount of green bamboo, wooden carved folding screens, and sheer gauze drapes with calligraphy for the background, paired with a water surface effect of pooled ground water to create an oriental fantasy style. The rockery stones on the ground and the blue-and-white porcelain tea sets and scrolls on the wooden table were all used to enrich the framing details. Most special is the abrupt stick-figure drawing board in the frame, serving as a playful contrast.
In terms of actions, due to the presence of the tail, many postures required re-adapting the center of gravity. Whether sitting on a chair holding a brush to write, sitting cross-legged barefoot, or stepping on the tail with one foot, core engagement was required to control body balance. Especially for those shots wearing white stockings and black platform boots, to make the leg lines look better, the angle of the instep and the direction of the knees were adjusted countless times. The shot sitting on the chair with knees crossed also aimed to maintain an elegant posture while displaying the perspective of white stockings and absolute territory. When holding a brush and a gear ring, I was also thinking about how to form an interaction with the tail to make the frame more narrative.
During the actual shoot, the temperature in the pool was actually quite low. When stepping barefoot into the water, I had to overcome the cold while maintaining facial expression control. To capture the moment of straightened insteps and rippling water, multiple attempts were made. Wearing white stockings in the water actually makes them very easy to get wet, so movements had to be extremely careful to let the lens capture perfection.
In lighting, cyan-green ambient light was mainly used, matched with the main light source to outline contours, ensuring the subject pops out from the complex background. During post-processing color grading, the cool tones were preserved as much as possible without excessive processing. This shoot is not just about showcasing a costume; it is hoped that through the lens, the character's lazy and mysterious traits can be presented, materializing two-dimensional settings into three-dimensional space.
