[Shigure Ui Cosplay] Cozy Afternoon During a Convention Break

Firefly Expo was much livelier than imagined this time. Taking advantage of the morning before crowds completely packed the venue, we found a relatively quiet balcony area to shoot this set. I cosplayed Shigure Ui; although many fellow fans recognized the outfit on site, I felt what mattered most was faithfully capturing her quiet yet subtly playful disposition.

The wig was styled a week in advance, specifically using a creamy platinum blonde color. The twin-tail curves were set with hairspray for a long time, and the fluffy pom-pom hair accessories on both sides were hand-sewn, stuffed with a bit of cotton to maintain fluffiness. Green contact lenses were chosen to make the gaze appear more translucent alongside the light hair. For makeup, focus was placed on eyeshadow blending and blush layering. Since the character leans towards a youthful, cute look, jawline contouring was kept soft, and a matte coral lip shade was picked to complement the red bow tie without being overly distracting.

Regarding the outfit, this navy blue sleeveless dress was custom-made using a thicker cotton-blend fabric, allowing the skirt hem to maintain natural folds and drape when seated rather than clinging limply to the legs. The white shirt collar follows a standard student uniform pattern with fitted cuffs for ease of movement. The red bow tie is velvet, giving a richer texture and more grounded color than standard satin. For the White thigh-highs outfit, an 80D slightly sheer density was selected, which evens out skin tone without harsh glare, creating a soft, natural glow when light hits the legs during Anime-style photography.

For props, the small red elementary school randoseru backpack served as one of the visual centerpieces. Patent leather reflected sunlight beautifully; I deliberately placed it on the floor by my feet instead of wearing it, paired with removed red-and-white Mary Jane shoes to create a relaxed "just after school or getting ready for class" atmosphere. The yellow-and-white accessory held in my hands functioned as an interactive prop to give my fingers a natural resting position.

The first close-up composition is my personal favorite: sitting upright, holding the prop lightly in both hands, with my gaze tilted slightly away from the camera. The photographer mentioned this captured her character trait of "seeming well-behaved while secretly thinking of something else." The second image captured a candid dynamic moment while stretching my arms; sunlight illuminated the absolute territory between white stockings and skirt hem, with leg contours and removed shoes adding narrative depth. The third shot shifted orientation, holding one shoe while resting the other nearby with toes slightly arched—a pose tricky for balance, yet producing a natural result while fully showcasing lower-body and footwear details in this Loli Cosplay.

Cosplaying this look at a busy convention, the greatest challenge was neither garment weight nor wig warmth, but maintaining her unhurried, composed pace under intense crowds. When passing fans requested photos, I briefly paused, resetting my mindset before resuming the formal shoot. The fascinating aspect of cosplay lies in this instant transformation—putting on the outfit and wig, you temporarily step outside yourself to embody a character gifted with a distinct soul.

Afternoon lighting shifted rapidly from direct sunlight to soft, diffused light, perfect for completing three shots from distinct angles. For editing, I requested preserving natural skin texture without excessive smoothing, slightly tweaking color temperature and contrast so the white thigh-highs and red backpack popped nicely. Stocking seams and shoe shadows were retained, as overly pristine edits tend to feel artificial in Convention photos.

Before shooting, I scouted the location in advance, discovering that the wicker chair and glass railing combination suited this school-theme perfectly. Light gray cushions contrasted with the navy dress, while glass railings reflected ambient light spots to prevent monotony. Taking off shoes for photos is a stylistic choice I personally love, breaking away from conventional standing poses to convey casual intimacy in Anime-style photography.

Overall, this set stands out as one of my favorite recent Convention photos. Though the weather was warm, feeling the breeze gently sway my wig and skirt hem made all preps completely worthwhile. Cosplay is precisely about crafting every detail with care, so the final images transmit not just visual resemblance, but evocative atmosphere. I look forward to exploring Shigure Ui cosplay across diverse settings in the future.
