When I changed into this GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE Hansel costume and stepped into the CICF Expo hall, my immediate impression was that the fabric of this patent leather outfit was exceptionally picky about lighting. The extensive black patent leather caught the convention hall's overhead lights with blinding glare—the slightest off-angle would blow out the highlights. To capture the garment's true texture, the photographer and I tested several corners throughout the venue, ultimately utilizing cool-toned light and shadow against a dimmer backdrop to bring out both the patent leather's sleek sheen and the tiered layering of the white ruffles.
This costume features immense detail: the large blue bow on the chest with a metallic buckle, the blue floral ornaments along both thighs, paired with black cut-out strappy knee-high boots, creating powerful visual impact. To align with Hansel's little devil persona, I incorporated forward-leaning tilts and backward glances into my poses. For instance, the bending-forward pose looking into the lens in Photo 1 was designed to showcase the drape of the twintails and the curves of the waist and hips, while delivering that confident, mischievous 'target locked' vibe mentioned in the post caption. The hands-on-hips standing pose in Photo 3 was intended to fully display the costume's overall silhouette and elongated leg lines.
Shooting with the blue twintails was far from effortless—the wig reached almost down to my knees, demanding constant vigilance when walking and spinning to avoid tangling or stepping on the hair strands. Furthermore, patent leather lacks any breathability whatsoever; navigating a crowded, sweltering convention hall while wearing this outfit consumed massive physical stamina. Although the platform high heels visually elongated lower-body proportions, standing for long stretches was quite painful on the soles of my feet, requiring careful balance calibration with each pose transition to avoid stumbling.
For makeup, to match the aesthetic texture of an anime character, I wore blue contact lenses, deepened eye contours, and kept the base foundation immaculate and clear to prevent it from looking cakey under harsh light. Though the entire process was exhausting, seeing how the reflective fabric merged seamlessly with the cool-toned ambiance on camera made every ounce of preparation and energy spent completely worthwhile. This styling achieved high visual polish, showcasing the character's distinct canon persona through tailored cuts and striking color blocking.
