For this official Hsin cosplay shoot from Wuthering Waves, we chose an antique Chinese-style study to echo the languid, imposing presence of this fox elder sister from Mengzhou. From the earliest preparation stages, the wig and facial cosmetics demanded the most time. To authentically convey her otherworldly, demonic allure, I wore crimson contact lenses and applied rich red-toned eye makeup; fine-tuning the delicate red tracery beneath the eyes and the cheek blush took numerous iterations to strike that balance between danger and enchantment. The wig is styled in a white-to-grey ombré, crowned by the oversized Fox ears that serve as the focal centerpiece. Gilded foliage hairpins and crimson gemstones were affixed to the ear bases, accompanied by gold tassels flanking both temples that swayed dynamically with every motion.
Sartorially, the black-and-crimson palette delivers dramatic visual punch. A black lace tube top serves as the base layer beneath a sweeping crimson wide-sleeved robe trimmed with white faux fur along the cuffs. The striking gemstone medallion on the chest—interlacing red, gold, and azure—adds instant radiance, complemented by gold bangles around the wrists to blend classical elegance with opulent fantasy. Elaborate red body paint was hand-drawn along both arms to mirror her tattoos, completed by crimson nail polish to push detail to the absolute maximum.
The ambiance on set was exceptional: the study was dressed with antique wooden bookcases, a guqin, hanging scrolls, and an inkstone, alongside traditional Chinese rugs woven with flying crane motifs, making every corner exceptionally photogenic. The photographer provided superb posing direction as we shifted through stances between the desk and high-backed armchair. I tried reclining sideways against the armrest with my chin resting on one palm, letting the robe slip gently off one shoulder; perching along the edge of the expansive wooden desk with legs extended to flatter the cascading hemline; and leaning forward with a hand reaching toward the lens to collapse the fourth wall. Every posture aimed to reflect her duality as an exalted spirit playing playfully with mortals.
Controlling the gaze was critical: rather than opening my eyes wide, I held a half-lidded, evaluating stare touched with mischievous amusement. This cosplay depended not only on showcasing the wardrobe's intricate seams, but also on the atmospheric synergy of the environment and expressive body language. The session was deeply fulfilling—the external strobes melted seamlessly into the warm wooden tones of the study, and I am profoundly grateful to the photographer for patiently bringing this fox elder sister to life.
