[Kuromi Serika cosplay] Blue Archive Summer Swimsuit: A Blend of Cool Elegance and Vibrant Energy

This black ruffled swimsuit outfit is quite a departure from the cooler, tactical styles I've worn before. Slipping into this minimalist black-and-white swimsuit paired with waist-length deep blue hair creates a visually refreshing and nimble look. For this shoot, we specifically set up a summer pool-themed studio backdrop featuring blue-and-white striped parasols, beach chairs, and an iconic oversized blue-and-white inner tube. Combined with reflective flooring mimicking water surfaces, our goal was to recreate a vacation ambiance tailored for this character. The iconic pink crosshair halo above her head and the black cat ears on both sides remain essential core elements. Integrating these signature features with the swimsuit highlights a lively summer silhouette while faithful to the character's original spirit and recognition.

The temperature on shoot day was soaring, but seeing the studio's water-themed setup built by our photography crew instantly lifted my spirits with a sense of cool relief. The makeup focused on a clean, translucent base tailored specifically for this refreshing summer vibe. The wig chosen was a highly accurate dark blue long wig that not only needed to fall naturally but also maintain silkiness and sheen whether walking, sitting, or lying down, avoiding any facial blockage during captures. The first shot captures a standing pose holding the ring, where a subtle torso twist showcases the swimsuit's ruffled cut and waistline contours. The third frame presents a side-profile glance over the shoulder, revealing elegant neck-to-shoulder lines. Personally, I adore the second image where I am seated in a clear shallow inflatable pool, legs loosely crossed beside a massive blue plush whale, complemented by water-ripple reflections on the floor and background inner tubes to convey a laid-back pool-side vacation atmosphere. These seemingly casual details resulted from extensive preliminary discussions with the photographer.

Collaborating with photographer @还不够安艺 was a wonderful experience; their attention to detail shone through as we repeatedly adjusted studio lighting to enhance skin translucency and perfected every prop placement. For instance, while the blue-and-white cold-toned set was meant to complement the deep blue hair, we implemented a high-brightness lighting system against blue backdrop panels to prevent the frame from feeling dull, ensuring the main subject popped vividly. Achieving a successful Cosplay set goes beyond flawless hair and makeup—the true key lies in conveying relaxed authenticity on camera. How to naturally interact with the inner tube and utilize props like sliced watermelon and ice cream desserts to enrich visual layers required continuous trial. Challenging everyday lifestyle themes often tests expressive range more than battle gear, yet it is equally fulfilling because it unleashes a vitality distinct from rigid static poses.

Reviewing raw monitor captures post-shoot with the photographer revealed light-and-shadow transitions far exceeding our expectations. The swimsuit's tailoring was exceptionally refined, with gathered ruffles adding playfulness and crisp black-and-white contrast. The photographic composition intentionally preserved environmental breathing room, avoiding an overly cramped frame. Moreover, the wig material held up amazingly well; even in hot studio conditions with perspiration, it maintained smooth texture and shine, significantly reducing post-processing burdens.

From initial brainstorming and prop purchasing to set construction, shooting, and retouching, the entire project spanned roughly one week. On shoot day, we tested numerous angles across beach chairs, wooden tables, and inflatable pools, using lifestyle props to embellish the scene. Though set inside a studio rather than an actual beach, this curated blue-and-white cooling aesthetic paired with complete hair and makeup yielded a strong visual presentation. I hope to keep exploring and challenging diverse character themes—whether past sharp combat styles or this refreshing, healing lifestyle look—because collaborating with talented photographers to bring a character's most vivid side to life through Portrait photography remains an immensely rewarding journey.
