Putting on this cheerleader outfit, Nekozuka Hibiki indeed gives off a completely different feel from her default outfit's carefree, even slightly hardcore state. The blue-and-white argyle cropped top paired with a matching pleated skirt, supplemented by a white bow tie and a lanyard ID tag, amplifies her overall youthful girliness several times through this refreshing athletic color palette. To match this energetic atmosphere, we skipped the studio this time and chose a real gymnasium equipment room for the shoot.
In her default outfit, wearing goggles and a tactical belt, she is a technician ready to get her hands dirty at any moment; in her Cheerleader cosplay version, wearing blue reflective goggles in a similar style, along with eye-catching yellow star face makeup, plus black-and-white fluffy animal ears and a greyish-white tail behind her, the character's liveliness and playful charm are brought vividly to life. During shooting, we specifically utilized stainless steel carts and plenty of volleyballs and soccer balls in the equipment room as backgrounds. Casually stacking volleyballs and soccer balls in the cart not only fit her athletic event background but also kept the scene from feeling stiff.
The lighting for this set used natural, slightly harsh direct light shining through the equipment room windows, combined with frame composition using metal railings, giving the images a strong sense of depth and three-dimensionality. I tried several poses in front of the lens, including sitting on the cart touching one ear, and leaning lazily against the railing. Details like the white mid-calf lace socks paired with the short skirt elongated leg proportions while perfectly hitting the stylish feel of this cheerleader outfit.
The charm of real-location Anime-style photography lies in integrating props and environment; the blue, white, and yellow colors of the volleyballs happened to echo the blue argyle blocks on the outfit visually. Placing a bottle of mineral water on the ground during the shoot added an authentic slice-of-life atmosphere to the photos. In this series, I hoped through body language and her slightly stubborn yet nonchalant gaze to restore a slice of this character's daily life outside of battle. The focus of the entire photoshoot was placed on emotional delivery and the orchestration of venue elements, aiming to present a unique, non-cliché athletic-themed Blue Archive cosplay photo set.
