[Nekozuka Hibiki cosplay] Blue Archive Energetic Cheerleader Styling Share

Ever since I received this Nekozuka Hibiki Cheerleader cosplay outfit from Blue Archive, I had been eagerly looking forward to the actual shoot. Unlike her usual protective gear or combat attire, this vibrant campus-style look tests overall coordination and expression control. This shoot mainly focused on recreating her uniquely tech-oriented yet exceptionally lively disposition.

First is the coordination of hair, makeup, and props. The black animal ears on top of my head were made of a material with moderate fur volume that doesn't collapse easily, worn inside the twin-tail wig to match the original illustration without looking unnatural. The blue goggles in front of the forehead were the finishing touch; I adjusted them slightly so they rested right above the hairline and brow line, showcasing the goggles' high-tech vibe while keeping the expressive eyebrows and eyes visible. The yellow star sticker under the eye was a key feature of the facial makeup—this small motif quickly catches the eye, lending a hint of playfulness and mystery, which, combined with the subtle shimmer of the eyeshadow, looked lively under indoor warm lighting.

Next is the tailoring of the costume. The white halter crop top on the upper body features blue-and-white color-blocked piping, with a cute paw print printed on the chest, and original-accurate chokers and lanyards around the neck—details that greatly boost character recognition. The Blue and white outfit shorts/skirt design on the bottom fits the body snugly, paired with white ankle socks and chunky white sneakers to elongate the leg lines and give the silhouette a light, breezy look. In seated poses, this lightweight fabric avoided excessive wrinkles and had great drape, ensuring clean and crisp lines in the photos.

The shooting environment was a custom-built mock school club room set. The wooden bookshelves behind, neatly lined with staggered books, created an academic feel; the blue-and-yellow volleyball placed atop the shelf along with scattered book elements resonated perfectly with Blue Archive's world where campus life meets combat. I held the key props—yellow cheerleader pom-poms. The pom-poms had plenty of fluffiness, and their plastic metallic tinsel produced shiny highlights under the lights, contrasting with the quiet bookshelves and emphasizing the energy expected of a cheerleader. To show another side of the outfit, I specifically adjusted the placement of the dark, fluffy tail so it draped naturally toward the floor behind me, capturing the signature charm of a Kemonomimi girl while balancing the composition.

Regarding poses, this series mainly utilized floor-seated perspectives. This low-angle approach allowed the body's extension and costume details to be fully appreciated. The lens captured quiet, relaxed moments from overhead and eye-level angles—such as tilting my head slightly toward the camera or letting my hands rest naturally near my knees—blending the character seamlessly into the background bookshelf without abrupt color clashes. While the outfit leans energetic and active by design, the side lighting in the studio sculpted sharp facial contours, adding rich depth and texture to the makeup.

The greatest joy in cosplaying Nekozuka Hibiki from Blue Archive lies in capturing her gap moe personality—seemingly cool and reserved on the outside, yet secretly sweet. While the cheerleader outfit reveals some skin, the beast ears, twin-tails, goggles, and star face sticker soften the look, highlighting pure, youthful energy. Before shooting, I made sure the goggles wouldn't leave pressure marks on my forehead and that the twin-tail wig wouldn't get messy during the long shoot; fortunately, everything went smoothly and the props held up well. Overall, it's a look that yields fantastic visual results while requiring disciplined body management. Reviewing the unedited raw photos afterward, the interplay of light and shadow paired with the refreshing Blue and white outfit was truly satisfying.
