[Shirasu Azusa cosplay] Cool and Serene Girl in Blue Archive Summer Pool

This swimsuit version shoot selected a very bright outdoor-style lighting scheme paired with an indoor beach and pool scene setup, aiming to reflect that cool and serene waterside vibe of the girl in summer. Putting on this long white wig, combined with hair accessories featuring citrus slice elements and a beaded necklace, instantly gave the character clear recognizability.

The blue and pink ruffle stitching on the outfit put lighting tolerance to the test. Using direct hard light would easily cause the sheer light-colored tulle to lose detail. Therefore, in terms of lighting, we deliberately used softer diffuse light sources so that the striped folds on the skirt and the sheer lightness of the arm sleeves could be authentically rendered, avoiding blown-out dead whites from overexposure. The red bow on the hairpiece alongside yellow, blue, and white stripes created great color-contrast accents, keeping the visual from feeling monotonous.

The shooting process heavily emphasized interaction with scene props. For the photo kicking water at the pool edge, timing the snapshot was crucial because the splash pattern is entirely random, requiring continuous attempts with different leg and arm bending angles to catch the best water spray trajectory. Standing barefoot in the water and sand also demanded physical adaptation, especially needing to step firmly into the sand texture to stabilize the center of gravity.

Indoor set building is particularly well-suited for Summer swimsuit themes because there is no need to worry about weather changes, and lighting can be precisely controlled. The blue-and-white striped lounge chair and pure white round side table behind provided excellent spatial depth. Using a white inflatable swim ring as a support not only made poses feel more natural and relaxed but also concealed some messy background corners.

Regarding expression control, this outfit gives off a gentle, pure feeling; laughing too broadly or making exaggerated expressions would feel disconnected from the overall atmosphere instead. I leaned toward maintaining a warm gaze with slightly upturned lips, which retains the character's serene coolness without feeling overly distant. The kicking water expressions by the pool were more relaxed than the seated poses on the sand, as interacting with water naturally allowed the body to unfold.

In post-processing color grading, matching the already clean background of the scene itself, we lowered noise colors in the environment overall and slightly brightened the main outfit's colors, making the pink, blue, and white look as if lit by direct sunlight. The texture of the sandy area is easily overlooked—retouching it too smoothly would lose the realism of the beach, so we retained the graininess of the sand grains to make the image more immersive.

From trying out this character to final image output, quite a bit of thought went into costume adjustments in between. Especially for this skirt, which needed to maintain coolness while retaining fabric weight; multiple layers of tulle overlay unfolded naturally during dynamic movement. The platform sandal design paired with blue bows also made foot details appear more complete.

Personally, I am quite satisfied with the completion of this Cosplay photography shoot, capturing the essence of this waterside character through prop usage, lighting setup, and catching the dynamic splash moments in motion. The white wig also showed great hair strand definition under warm ambient light; although untangling and combing it beforehand took a lot of work, seeing the final shots made the effort worth it. In Blue Archive, Shirasu Azusa herself possesses a quiet beauty, while this Swimsuit Azusa outfit adds summer freshness to that quietness. Being able to recreate this atmosphere in an indoor setting was quite a fun endeavor.
