[Black Swan Cosplay] Night Soliloquy in Honkai: Star Rail

The character Black Swan naturally possesses a mysterious and elegant quality in Honkai: Star Rail. When preparing this cosplay, I thought about how to not only restore her appearance, but also capture that unique mysterious ambiance belonging to the character.

As for the outfit, the purple and black spliced top uses a special fabric, and the lace on the neckline along with neck decorations really tested the tailor's craftsmanship. The iridescent butterfly brooch on the chest is the visual focal point, reflecting blue, pink, and purple shades under different lights, perfectly fitting the character's deep yet lively traits. The vintage card prop in hand is the soul accent of this look; its metallic frame and golden radial sun pattern enhance the overall dramatic tension in front of the lens.

For makeup and hairstyle, I wore a light purple short wig. To match the night portrait shoot, I intentionally emphasized the eye makeup lines to make the gaze look more focused and profound. To fit the character's temperament, my expression was kept in a subtle state of a half-smile.

The location for this shoot was an outdoor staircase. This low-angle, high-perspective wide-angle shot technique actually requires a lot of care in cosplay photography. It not only elongates visual proportions, but also highlights the texture of the black tights outfit particularly well. Shiny black tights create very strong reflections under lighting. If not controlled properly, these reflections can look greasy, but just the right glimmers actually accentuate the beauty of the leg lines. Paired with dark boot straps and golden buckles, the overall look carries both strength and a hint of allure in the night.

Regarding the OOC apology mentioned in the post, I feel that every cosplayer brings their own understanding when portraying a character. I just hope to match the character walking along the River of Memory in my heart as much as possible through my camera language and makeup/styling. This set of photos didn't use too much exaggerated post-processing, focusing more on restoring the ambiance of the lighting on set.

During the shoot, we actually faced a few small challenges. For instance, maintaining a high-angle posture on the stairs while keeping control of facial expressions was not easy. Luckily, the photographer was very professional, guiding me to adjust my head angle and card placement, ultimately capturing several natural and tension-filled shots.

I've babbled quite a bit about my thoughts on the shoot; I hope everyone can feel the unique dark ambiance and mysterious colors of this costume. The birth of every casual cosplay work is a new exploration of the character's charm, and I really enjoy the sense of grounding this process brings.
