When shooting this Arknights Ines White studio photoshoot, managing studio lighting was the primary consideration. Ines's costume design is brimming with details, and the bold crimson-and-black color blocking makes the subject instantly pop against a pure white backdrop; however, this setup sets high demands on lighting gradation. During pre-production, to faithfully replicate the wig's silhouette and bangs, I went through several restyling sessions. The leather materials of the outfit are quite structured—particularly the red bandolier across the chest, the metallic waist buckles, and the sweeping rear skirt train—demanding patient adjustments so that they held their canonical forms without restricting mobility. For accessories, the gloves and leg elements were curated to preserve that cold, mechanical edge true to the original lore.
White studio shoots rigorously test subtle expressions and blocking. Poses like placing a hand on the hip or raising an arm were tailored to her persona, projecting an unyielding, aloof aura that refuses to pander to the lens. In full-body shots, pairing the Black tights outfit with platform shoes visually elongated leg proportions, though on set I had to tread cautiously to avoid skirt snags on the soles while minding the high slit's drape. Compared to outdoor locations, the clean simplicity of a white cyclorama removes distractions, spotlighting tailoring cuts, fabric textures, and makeup precision. We explored numerous angles: bust close-ups capture facial subtleties, while full-body frames emphasize cohesive silhouette balance. The crimson panels caught highlights beautifully, allowing post-production to focus on color uniformity and shadow recovery without excessive skin smoothing, preserving organic volume. The wig's length and flow presented a minor challenge; because of its sheer length, an assistant helped comb it out behind me between takes to prevent flyaways from obscuring facial expressions. The resulting cool tones and minimalist backdrop matched my creative vision seamlessly, making the effort to don such heavy regalia a truly gratifying experience.
