[Ganyu Cosplay] Genshin Impact Ganyu in a Qipao and Black tights outfit: Unique Charm at Guangzhou Firefly Comic Con

Completing this Qipao style Ganyu Cosplay shoot just before the Guangzhou Firefly Comic Con was quite a feat. Compared to her default costume, the cut of this modified Qipao places demanding requirements on showcasing body proportions. The wig featured layered light blue hair; the curves of the bangs and sideburns were carefully pre-styled, and numerous bobby pins were placed inside to ensure the horn accessories on top sat stably and snugly against the wig. For the makeup, I specifically reshaped my eye contours, using light violet-pink colored contacts and reddish-brown eyeshadow to match the blue-and-white palette of the outfit, focusing on elongated eye contours and precise tightlining to capture the character's serene, aloof aura.

The shoot took place by the waterside stone railings, where classical scenery complemented the long Qipao silhouette beautifully. Because the outdoor shoot fell on an overcast day, diffuse lighting brought out the textures of the blue-and-white porcelain patterns and black mesh on the dress exceptionally well. For the lower half, a Black tights outfit with opaque black stockings and glossy black high heels was chosen; the added height from the heels elongated the overall silhouette, while the leg contours appeared firm and sleek against the black lace trim of the hem. I alternated between standing and seated poses; resting a leg on the railing required keeping the skirt drape neat. Despite the high slit on the side, keeping the edges of the tights clean and tidy was essential to preserve the Qipao's elegance.

For props, I prepared an oil-paper umbrella and a round fan. When holding the umbrella, keeping distance between the handle and shoulders was important to avoid blocking the face; holding the fan required subtle wrist curvature and relaxed shoulders to flatter the collarbones and arm lines. The neckline features a halter design with black criss-cross straps and a pendant, while the chest cut, accented with black lace, faithfully recreated the character while accentuating figure curves. The sheer mesh over the chest catching the light served as a major visual highlight.

Experiencing the comic con floor in person was truly unique. In crowded halls, long ribbons and trailing hems drew plenty of attention, requiring vigilance against being stepped on. While gorgeous, the mesh fabric was relatively delicate, demanding caution during twists or bends to avoid tearing. Walking in high heels all day was indeed exhausting, yet the effort was well worth it to attain ideal leg proportions and an upright posture on camera. I personally love the full-body shots on the stone-paved path—the poses felt effortless and directly conveyed the commanding presence of this outfit. This costume features numerous details, like floral cuff embellishments and collar tassels, which I look forward to detailing next time.
