[Firefly cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: Spring Souvenir in Night photography

For this Night photography shoot of Firefly's "Spring Souvenir" JK uniform look, the main focus was on utilizing ambient on-site lighting. Since it was at night, using large artificial light sources could easily ruin the bokeh atmosphere of the city backdrop. Therefore, the shoot relied primarily on the light strip beneath the stone bench and the screen light from a mobile phone.

The warm yellow light strip at the base neatly outlined the contours of the White stockings and platform shoes, while the smartphone screen served as facial fill light, preserving catchlight details in the pupils. This saved a lot of effort in post-production, leaving the raw shots with solid, rich texture. The photographer paid close attention to elongating the leg lines in the composition, which, paired with the plaid skirt and White stockings, visually extended my proportions significantly.

In terms of styling, this sailor JK uniform paired with a light blue-green wig and hair accessories restored the cool, ethereal aura characteristic of the character. The bouquet of flowers and the phone held in hand served as great props to ease posing awkwardness—especially resting my chin on my hand while looking at the camera, framed by blurred background bokeh, which maximized the atmospheric vibe without needing complex facial expressions.

As the model, to adapt to the nighttime lighting setup, I had to keep looking down toward the phone screen in the dim light to simulate a natural state. The reflection of stockings under streetlights at night is tricky to manage, but fortunately, our angle and positioning captured the bottom light strip just right, preventing the legs from looking washed out or pale.

The post-processing mainly focused on further dimming the background highlights to accentuate the foreground subject. For this kind of night JK photography, overexposure strips away the hazy ambiance unique to the night. During grading, the texture of the plaid skirt and the color of the bow tie were moderately restored to ensure the character's original traits were not muddied by stray ambient colors. It was a very pleasant collaboration, largely thanks to the well-planned lighting setup beforehand and consistent color tones, making it a very satisfying exploration of night portraiture.
