Today's look is the red bunny girl outfit for Taihou from Azur Lane. Because the schedule was confirmed only the night before, and the plan for the day was to shoot three different characters in a single day, the time allocated for each set was very limited. The Taihou cosplay set was especially rushed, and without enough time for a full set of polished photos, I could only take a few mirror selfies in the dressing room as a casual cosplay record.
Let's talk about the costume first. The red patent leather bodysuit has a striking gloss, but to be honest, it's quite inconvenient to wear. Patent leather has virtually no elasticity and traps heat easily; if the indoor studio gets even slightly stuffy, it sticks right to your skin. Changing in and out of it while juggling three sets in a day was truly exhausting. Still, to capture the character's mature and seductive allure, these challenges had to be overcome. The deep V-neck design across the chest, paired with the white shirt collar and red bow tie, delivers great visual impact, while the white cuffs on the wrists add nice detail. To enhance character recognition, I made sure to wear the character ID badge around my neck; despite the rush, I brought as many essential props and accessories as possible.
In terms of hair and makeup, to reflect the character's look and demeanor, I specially chose red contact lenses paired with reddish-brown eyeshadow and lip color, giving my facial features enough dimension and presence to carry this outfit. The straight black long wig had good smoothness and only needed slight layering to be camera-ready, saving a lot of styling time on set. Because my actual height is on the petite side, pulling off a mature, commanding character like Taihou was a real test of posture and expression control. To project an effortless, confident aura on camera, I deliberately adjusted the angle of my shoulders and neck, lowered my center of gravity slightly, and used the perspective of full-body shots to elongate my silhouette.
The dressing room environment was quite unpolished—the background featured white fabric curtains, an air conditioner, cardboard boxes, and a small plastic stool. Without elaborate lighting or studio sets, this casual everyday atmosphere actually helped me relax. When taking mirror selfies, coordinating hand gestures and gazes felt much more natural than posing directly in front of a photographer. The black tights outfit paired with the high-cut red patent leather bodysuit flattered the leg lines nicely; although finding the right shooting angle in a cramped dressing room was tricky, the resulting frames turned out quite satisfying.
The workload of shooting three sets in a day was certainly tiring, especially under the restrictive nature of patent leather where every movement took extra effort. Yet the pure joy of casual cosplay is precisely the motivation to overcome these hassles. Although this Taihou cosplay didn't make it into a formal studio set, the lived-in dressing room snapshots hold their own distinct charm, capturing the most authentic moments.
