I brought this Ryuge Kisaki look to the CICF Expo and chose to shoot this set of Convention photos outdoors under the bright sunlight. The light on site was very intense; while high-contrast natural light posed a real challenge for lighting control, it happened to perfectly accentuate Ryuge Kisaki's sharp and confident presence.
Ryuge Kisaki's costume design is richly layered. The top is a deep blue sleeveless high-neck piece adorned with extensive gold dragon embroidery across the front and sides, featuring clean edge finishes; despite its form-fitting cut, precise tailoring ensured unrestricted movement. The long black-and-white pinstriped coat is the true soul of this styling. During the shoot, I deliberately draped it halfway off my shoulders, and in one shot, I crouched down letting it trail onto the pavement—creating an effortless, relaxed vibe that contrasted beautifully with the fitted inner wear. For props, I selected a solid black rectangular briefcase, which perfectly complemented her status as a respected senior and authoritative figure.
For hair and makeup, to faithfully recreate the character design, the dragon horn accessories at the crown used a translucent white-and-gray palette, paired with long hair gradient-dyed from deep to light blue styled into signature double buns with a slender braid cascading down one side. For the eye makeup, I accentuated the brows and eye contours to sharpen the gaze, combined with matte lips to exude a cool, untouchable aura that created a wonderful contrast against the bright, sunny convention ambiance.
When it came to poses, we focused on three main perspectives. Looking back over the shoulder was the trickiest to master, as it required balancing torso twist and shoulder posture while keeping the hair draping naturally. The standing pose resting on one foot elongated the lower body lines, paired with black stockings and chunky heeled leather shoes to create a striking Stocking outfit that stretched leg proportions nicely. Finally, the crouching pose holding the briefcase, while looking casual, tested core balance and showcased the subtle sheen of the stockings alongside the texture of the briefcase.
Attending a comic convention is hard physical work—from early morning prep to entering the hall took half a day, and maintaining high energy while finding gaps in the crowd outdoors was quite a task. Though it was hot and direct sun made makeup prone to shine, seeing the sharp shadows and lush tree-dappled green background in the final edits made all the effort worthwhile. Without heavy armor or complex mechanical gear, this outfit allowed plenty of freedom for expressive body language.
Beyond capturing the visual elegance of the character, this shoot was about conveying the lively spirit of students in the Blue Archive universe. As someone passionate about costume craftsmanship, I aimed to capture the subtle tailoring lines and fabric textures through photography. Real sunlight and shadows sculpted the silhouette with depth, achieving an organic realism far closer to "2D stepping into reality" than indoor studio lighting. This set serves as both a convention record and a personal interpretation of the character. I hope these Convention photos let everyone feel both the warmth of the sun and the character's poised capability in our Casual cosplay journey.
