Shooting this Western-style clothing look for Flandre Scarlet took nearly half a day, offering a truly refreshing and delightful experience.

To match the character's personality and lore, significant thought was given to the location and props. The outfit features a primary red-and-black palette with a large yellow star ribbon bow at the neckline, alongside intricate cut-out lace and heavy ruffles across the skirt. While layering it all on was somewhat tedious, the silhouette on-body looked remarkably delicate. The headdress incorporated generous pink-and-white tulle mesh and burgundy bows; paired with long golden wavy hair, the visual weight focused heavily on the head, meaning close-up shots required careful angles to prevent the headpiece from looking overpowering or making the head appear disproportionately large.

For makeup, dark brown contact lenses enhanced the depth of the gaze, complemented by dense upper and lower false eyelashes and pronounced under-eye blush to evoke a fragile, subtly mysterious aura. In the third profile shot, Elf ears props were deliberately worn, significantly elevating the fantasy aesthetic.

The light brown bear plush held throughout the shoot proved extremely practical—it resolved awkward hand placement while softening the composition. In the first two high-angle shots, looking down accentuated an innocent gaze, which, paired with lighting, brought out a clean skin texture. Because the dress and headwear were elaborate, standing poses were tiring, so most frames focused on half-body and close-up angles, relying on styling and facial expressions to convey character emotions.

Post-processing preserved the authentic lace textures, focusing on brightening skin tones to make pink hues more translucent while avoiding excessive skin smoothing that might wash out delicate lace details. Having previously posted the look for the Eldest Mistress (Remilia), switching to the Second Mistress (Flandre) presented an entirely distinct aura—which is precisely the captivating charm of shooting Touhou Project characters in a Cosplay photoshoot. Arranging the intricate layers of this costume took immense effort, but the resulting refinement made every bit of dedication worthwhile.
