The quick-edited CD29 Convention photos are out! This time I cosplayed Flandre Scarlet from Touhou Project. With the red-and-white western dress, the iconic ruffled mob cap, and that teddy bear in my arms that never leaves her side, I'd say the little sister's classic elements are fully restored.
The atmosphere on the day of the shoot was amazing. The overhead venue lighting, combined with the red splash special effects added in post-processing, perfectly captured that coexistence of "desire for destruction" and "cuteness." The rainbow crystal prisms in my hands are custom-made props. Once attached to the wings' frame, they weren't light at all, but for the final photo results, I held them steadily the whole time.
My photographer partner's snapshots of the movements and angles were also spot on. During Cosplay post-processing, the translucent texture of the skin was preserved while the layering of the red light effects was enhanced. Every time I cosplay a Touhou character, I gain new insights. Flandre's personality is actually much more complex than her appearance, and this sense of contrast is exactly where the character's charm lies. This time, I tried to zone out more with my facial expressions in front of the lens, hoping to convey her vibe of looking innocent yet hiding danger.
The best part of convention photos is being able to record the most authentic interactive atmosphere. Even though the live lighting was messy and the environment chaotic, after unifying the color tones and touching them up, the final photos still look highly competitive for this Anime-style photography set. Standing around for over half a day with all the props and the wig, it was tiring but joyful. Getting everyone's recognition is my biggest motivation!
