This set of Youmu Konpaku photos from Dapingshan Cherry Blossom Valley can finally be shared today. The lighting on the day of the shoot was fantastic; the pinkish-white cherry blossom forest provided very soft diffuse light, setting a light, clean foundation for the color tone of the entire frame. Starting from the early preparations, selecting this cherry blossom valley during its peak blooming period allowed the fallen leaves and scattered flowers on the ground to add rich layers to the scene.

This white and green main color-schemed dress underwent a lot of detailed treatments—the complex lace at the neckline and the flower embroidery on the chest, paired with the wide white lantern sleeves and layered ruffled skirt hem, create a sense of gorgeousness belonging to Gensokyo. In terms of materials, a patchwork of cotton-linen and chiffon was chosen, which possesses both the anime setting feel and a realistic texture, allowing the layers of the white skirt hem to spread out naturally during dynamic snapshots. For the makeup and styling, to fit the setting of the half-phantom gardener, I emphasized the cleanliness of the blue eyes and silver short hair, with the black bowknot headpiece subtly echoing the dark print at the neckline. Regarding props, the two iconic long swords could certainly not be missing; the textures of Hakurouken and Roukanken look exceptionally harmonious among the cherry blossom trees.

As Youmu, one must showcase both the sharpness and decisiveness of a gardener, while retaining the focus in her personality. When shooting while holding two long swords, center-of-gravity control and posture aesthetics require special attention. Combined with the moments when the breeze brushed past the cherry blossom trees, we captured some naturally dynamic frames. The composition of the frame was also highly fastidious; the photographer, Ruoye, utilized a large-aperture lens to blur the background, presenting the sea of flowers as pinkish-white color blocks to make the character main subject stand out. The transience of the cherry blossom season happens to match perfectly with Youmu's resolute and pure temperament. Standing with swords drawn beneath a tree full of blooming flowers is a highly representative romantic moment in anime. I hope this cosplay photoshoot allows everyone to feel my understanding and interpretation of this character setting.
