This Remilia cosplay look was only finalized recently; her dress design in Touhou Project is remarkably intricate, and just putting on all those delicate layers took quite a bit of time when it first arrived. The mob cap bonnet is the centerpiece of the outfit—the ruffled gathering of black and deep dark red along the brim has substantial visual weight, accented with orange-red blossoms. The bodice splices translucent white chiffon adorned with red roses and a long pearl strand that sways gently with movement, creating strong visual layering.

As for the skirt, the high-low hemline paired with an expansive petticoat occupies considerable space, yet this exact cut flatters the leg contours wonderfully. The outer layer features grayish-blue tulle alongside tiered red-and-white ruffles; combined with the peach and red dimensional florals peeking from the lining, the palette preserves the mystery of a dark fairytale without feeling overly somber.

For photos, I opted for indoor lighting. Taking a Mirror selfie truly tests your control over the garment, as the reversed reflection can easily make poses look stiff if you're not careful. I chose a pose lifting the skirt with my right hand primarily to allow the layered gown to fan out completely while showing off the red-and-white beaded leg chain on my thigh; standing barefoot on the floor lent a lighter, more ethereal quality that fits the character lore. The wig is styled in soft grayish-blue waves, appearing softer and warmer under indoor ambient lighting than under cool studio lights.

Since this was shot casually at home rather than on location outdoors, I went barefoot, which also spared me the fatigue of standing for long hours. Wearing Gothic Lolita attire of this caliber gets tiring over time—the oversized bonnet and shoulder lace carry noticeable physical weight—yet enduring that weight felt trivial in service of character fidelity.

Getting the petticoat volume and lace draping just right required countless retakes. The trickiest part was staggering the front and back skirt tiers so the base tones harmonized with the upper lace. Additionally, the long pearl necklace easily tangled during turns or movement, requiring careful untangling between shots. The grayish-blue wig fibers also demanded continuous brushing to avoid snarls; when donning the cap, teasing out the bangs and side locks to contour the jawline was essential to make the face appear more petite. The red-and-black palette carries immense visual impact, allowing even a simple white home wall to produce striking results.
