For this Ocean's Lament themed photoshoot, a magnificent yet subtly gothic tone was established right from pre-production. The wardrobe featured a glossy, highly reflective bright red slip mini dress; the plunging V-neck combined with a cutout bust line visually elongated the neck. To complement the gown, I deliberately selected semi-sheer black stockings and opera-length gloves, forging a classic red-and-black contrast that delivers intense visual tension before the camera.
Because the dress is crafted from high-gloss fabric, even the slightest movement produced wide swathes of specular highlights. During the shoot, master photographer 雨尘 constantly reminded me to adjust angles to avoid harsh blowout flares, letting the light sweep smoothly along the skirt folds to bring out the luxurious texture of the material. To complement the look, props included a black-and-red violin and a red long-handled trident. When holding the violin, finger positioning required extra attention; the long gloves dulled tactile sensation, so to ensure a firm grip on the bow while keeping the posture natural and poised, I practiced holding and bowing before a mirror repeatedly, striving to capture that elegant yet aloof performance state.
The set was staged at Chenxing Photography Studio, where cascading white sheer drapes, Roman pillars, and a floor blanketed with red roses resonated powerfully with my styling. Moving across the set, the multi-tiered puffy skirt swayed with every step; to capture the dynamic flare of the fluttering hemline, I had to leap and pivot repeatedly, draining a great deal of stamina. Yet seeing the sweeping arcs of the skirt frozen in the finished frames made every bit of effort worthwhile.
Asuka carries an intense, burning vitality as a character. This styling strips away the youthful innocence of her everyday school uniform and plugsuit, infusing stage presence and mature opulence. In conveying emotion through the eyes, I reined in my usual sweet expressions, meeting the lens with a colder, subtly provocative gaze, projecting an imposing aura through a slightly tilted chin and restrained facial expressions.
During breaks, I discussed color balance with the photographer: vibrant red, pure white, and deep black dominated the frame, accented by gilded picture frames and candelabras to make every frame resemble a classical oil painting. Especially when posed atop the rose-strewn steps, maintaining a tight core was essential to keeping a tall, poised silhouette. Heartfelt thanks to 雨尘 for meticulous styling and photography, bringing forth this blooming, dark-rose visual tension.
