For this shoot of Texas the Omertosa, what I wanted to convey most was her quiet yet suffocatingly oppressive presence during her time in Siracusa. To authentically capture this aura, we dedicated substantial effort to setting up the indoor scene. We chose the corner of a bar with a retro-industrial flair: a tufted black leather sofa, a walnut round table, and an authentic vintage rotary telephone. Together, these elements immediately pulled us into that somber, narrative-rich Siracusan night.
Regarding the costume, the layers are remarkably intricate. I deliberately styled subtle gathers along the cuffs of the white shirt, layered under a tailored black vest and finished with her signature bright blue cravat, bringing out that crisp uniform silhouette. The tactical straps around the waist and the thigh holster required meticulous tension adjustments to stay sleek and form-fitting without bulging, while granting ample mobility for dynamic posing. The tall white boots were an exceptional touch—their structured leather finish and black graphic prints visually echoed the light shirt on top. To embody Texas's effortless, cool-headed stoicism, I paired shorts with sheer Black stockings, creating subtle dimensional contrast under the lights.
During the shoot, styling the wig and beast ears was another fun challenge. The long grayish-blue hair needed to preserve a silky, fluid drape, while the plush ears atop my head and the voluminous gray-black tail behind me required careful checks with each pose to ensure they looked organic and never stiff. To embody the character's temperament, I aimed for body language blending relaxed composure with underlying vigilance—leaning back into the sofa with a glass in hand, or resting my leg across the armrest while casting a piercing downward gaze. The stance felt casual and languid, yet the eyes remained laser-focused and razor-sharp; combined with reddish-amber contacts, it projected an undeniable, tacit menace.
The lighting design on set was something I loved. The photographer harnessed light filtering through venetian blinds to cast striped shadows across the backdrop and floor, paired with a warm-toned rim backlight accentuating the liquor bottles and my face. This gave the frames a cinematic, retro film grain while beautifully drawing out the sheer texture of the Black stockings and the sheen of the leather gear. The amber liquid in the glass was simply black tea, but within this set, the atmosphere was dialed up completely. The entire session was thoroughly immersive, and I hope this photo set lets everyone experience the unmistakable allure of Texas the Omertosa.
