Bringing this Amiya: The Song of Long Voyage cosplay photoshoot from Arknights to fruition demanded meticulous care from preliminary planning through the final shutter click. Because the venue exuded an intensely rich classical architecture, we scrutinized every detail across garments and props to do justice to such a grand backdrop. Every pleat along the cascading skirt and the fluid drape of the lace trims were repeatedly calibrated during fittings. Pairing black tights with chunky platform heels elongated leg contours visually, yet severely tested balance throughout the shoot. While the violin in hand was a prop, I practiced fundamental instrument-holding and bow-grip postures beforehand to ensure authentic framing, locking the shoulder, arm, and wrist into disciplined angles.
Lighting on set performed brilliantly on the day of the shoot: warm amber top lighting spilled through the structural arches, carving radiant caustic patches across the tiled floor. We took deliberate advantage of mirror floor reflections, intertwining the subject with clear ground reflections. The pose in the photos lifting one leg backward took numerous bursts to freeze the most weightless, effortless silhouette. To channel the graceful, subtly aloof, and enigmatic temperament of The Song of Long Voyage, facial composure and gaze were iteratively refined. Holding varied poses in heels across hard tile floors kept calf muscles perpetually flexed; combined with the sheer weight of the tiered skirt, every spin and freeze demanded full-body core engagement, while the photographer closely monitored frame edges and the flared arc of the hemline.
I particularly adore the textural interplay of light falling over black lace and Black stockings—the warm-toned illumination neutralized the somber weight of black fabrics, infusing the imagery with an oil-painting-like classical depth. The bunny ears atop my head shifted easily during dynamic movements, requiring re-securing after every sequence. Watching each frame on the camera monitor converge toward our envisioned aesthetic completely dispelled the accumulated physical fatigue.
