[Misaki cosplay] Blue Archive: Master's Chinese-Style Qipao & Black stockings Look

For this shoot, I portrayed Misaki from Blue Archive, crafting a Chinese-style aesthetic centered around the President's character design. The sleeveless navy-blue Qipao-style top features light blue piping along the mandarin collar and 3D golden dragon embroidery across the chest, which reflects light beautifully in front of the lens. To add dimension and depth, I layered a wide-sleeved robe with fine black-and-white stripes that draped casually down to my elbows, creating an effortless yet formidable aura. For the lower half, I opted for sheer Black stockings paired with black pointed-toe stiletto heels, visually elongating my leg lines to create the impression of slender Manga legs.

The wig was styled into sleek, straight navy-blue hair with two symmetrical odango buns on top and blunt straight bangs in front. The headpieces included a silvery crescent hairpin and several blue floral clips, staying as faithful to the original design as possible. For makeup, the main focus was on the eyes: reddish-brown eyeshadow was blended softly at the outer corners, complemented by an orange-red lip tint, striving to capture a calm, aloof, and subtly proud demeanor on camera.

The studio was decorated in a classic Chinese setting, backed by floral-and-bird folding screens and cascading sheer curtains inscribed with calligraphy. Red plum blossoms on the left and pink floral branches on the right formed an elegant contrast of tones, while warm yellow floor lanterns provided rich ambient light. I particularly loved the shots seated in the rosewood armchair—the gold-patterned crimson rug and dark wooden furniture created an exquisitely deep, saturated palette.

To highlight the delicate texture of the Black stockings and the costume, we calibrated the lighting setup multiple times. Because stockings are semi-sheer, harsh key lighting can appear cheap, while lighting that is too diffuse fails to outline the contours of the outfit; ultimately, using side-backlight combined with a warm softbox achieved the refined texture I envisioned. During the shoot, to present different emotional states, I experimented with everything from sitting upright and crossing my legs to kneeling and reclining sideways. Holding poses in high heels was physically demanding and made the arches of my feet ache, so during a break I kicked off the shoes and stood on the rug in stockings, which unexpectedly captured a more relaxed, lived-in mood.

Because the fabric of the outer robe was very smooth, it kept sliding down naturally while posing; rather than constantly adjusting it, I let it drape freely, forming an asymmetrical compositional beauty. The black stilettos casually left on the rug were also placed on a whim, evoking the relaxed ease of someone taking a well-deserved break after finishing demanding affairs. These spontaneous little nuances often tell a richer story than rigid posing. Thanks to the photographer's candid captures, this subtle ambiance was perfectly preserved. Although the process required constant fine-tuning of poses and light, seeing the finished photos made every effort worthwhile. The fusion of traditional Chinese elegance and anime elements is truly captivating—the tailoring of the Qipao paired with Black stockings maintained the character's signature traits while expressing my own personal interpretation of this Misaki cosplay.
