Posing while holding this huge plush toy was definitely exhausting, especially in a Flower shop photography setting filled with layers of flower bouquets. I had to constantly adjust my standing and sitting positions to ensure the large bow tie and the pleats of the red plaid skirt didn't look messy from distorted fabric folds. The core of this outfit lies in its fit and proportions: a dark blue uniform jacket paired with the iconic red plaid pleated skirt, tied with that richly colored bright red bow tie, creating a striking contrast between the top and skirt. The black Over-the-knee socks and round-toe leather shoes were the finishing touches; the taut lines along the legs and the curvature of the heels are key to showcasing the character's unique charm. To achieve the best leg silhouette, I spent nearly half an hour fine-tuning sitting angles and the extension of my legs, repeatedly comparing side-angle and front-angle shots.
The flower shop environment was both gorgeous and tricky to control, as the intertwined reddish-purple roses and emerald foliage in the background had very high color saturation, which could easily wash out the foreground subject. To emphasize the subject, I deliberately utilized the warm yellow pendant lamp on the ceiling as the key light, letting that warmth wash over the uniform and skin, paired with ambient reflections refracted through nearby glass bottles to create a dreamy yet slice-of-life lighting atmosphere. This lighting significantly impacted the translucency of the Black stockings on my legs, so during post-processing, I focused on adjusting local highlights and shadows to fully preserve the semi-sheer texture of the stockings without looking dull, grayish, or cheap with exaggerated reflections.
Having the giant Hello Kitty sit in my lap was actually a way to relieve the awkward exhaustion of holding it—I simply sat on the white counter to rest with my legs dangling naturally. This posture visually elongated my body lines, making my legs appear straighter and slimmer. In front of the camera, I tried slightly tilting my body to find a relaxed, natural dynamic and avoid looking stiff. Prop selection also echoed the theme: Hello Kitty wearing a plaid outfit matched the elements of my red plaid skirt, completing the details in the frame while adding that slightly innocent aura unique to the character.
This photo set mainly documents my portrayal of Takanashi Rikka. Throughout styling prep and the photoshoot, I insisted on refining uniform details—such as how the bow tie was tied and controlling skirt length—striving to preserve overall visual aesthetics while faithfully capturing the character's aura. Blending the character's distinct natural vibe with the warm tones of the flower shop was indeed a comfortable match, and the final result preserved the pure, slightly Chuunibyou childlike innocence of the character.
