【Chien Wu cosplay】Azur Lane Qipao Convention Photos: Visual Tension in a Glance Back - Image 1

We took quite a few photos at this convention, but my favorite by far is this Qipao set of Chien Wu cosplay from Azur Lane. The gown features a deep sapphire-blue base layered with sheer orange tulle; the backless cut and high-slit design gave the skirt a wonderfully fluid drape while walking. I specifically chose lace-trimmed Black stockings paired with slender stiletto heels, visually elongating body proportions while matching the character's blend of refined elegance and commanding sharpness. The oversized blue blossom hair ornament served as an eye-catching highlight, echoing the blue of the gown.

During shooting, massive overhead truss lights illuminated the scene, while on-site reflectors filled light onto the face, faithfully capturing both skin radiance and the intricate weave of the fabric. Shooting on a Sony A7C II with a 17-28mm wide-angle lens, the low-angle perspective stretched full-body proportions while accentuating the spatial depth of the convention hall. Although background foot traffic was chaotic, using shallow depth of field and flash to overpower ambient light made the subject pop immediately. When crafting this costume, the most painstaking detail was the red-and-blue contrasting embroidery along the hem; the floor-sweeping train looked far more dynamic in motion than standing still. Every glance-back angle had to synchronize with the fluttering tulle, taking dozens of shutter clicks to seize that single instant where both gaze and posture aligned. While dialing in the on-site lighting and reflectors took constant adjustment, the satisfying impact of the final images made this outing deeply rewarding in our Convention photos.
