Cosplaying Acheron this time, the most demanding effort went into faithfully recreating the textures of the headpiece and attire. The wig was built on a deep blue base, with highlights of reddish-purple and fluorescent green applied to the tips and inner layers; the front bangs were cut with heavy, angular slicing, while that iconic small black horn accessory atop the crown took extensive styling with hairspray and clips before it stayed firmly upright. The makeup focused primarily on the eyes: crimson eyeshadow was broadly blended with matching colored contacts, elongated with an upward-winged liner. To harmonize with the character's stern aloofness, the base makeup was set with a matte finish, leaving the lips with a natural flush.
Regarding the costume, the top consists of a black leather halterneck bandeau adorned with silver patterns across the chest—a cut that severely tests figure silhouette, requiring extensive adjustments before shooting to prevent wrinkles along the edges. The black leather choker at the neck features a blue-purple gradient accent and metallic buckles, lending rich depth. The detached arm sleeves and white bandages wrapped around the right upper arm were donned in layers, alongside gloves and a blue-and-white capelet patterned with flame motifs for pronounced dimensional layering. The bottoms feature black leather shorts paired with a white corset sash and metal chains. The glossy black over-the-knee heeled leather boots significantly elongate leg proportions, though their towering heels required immense care when stepping across slippery mall marble floors.
The prop is a life-sized fantasy-style longsword with a white blade etched with purple runes and a hilt in red, black, and silver. When propping the sword upright with one hand, counterbalancing the center of gravity was essential to keep the wrist from fatiguing. The addition of the red umbrella infused a touch of desolate chivalric flair; its frame was exceptionally sturdy, and unfurling it instantly immersed me into that specific emotional space.
The shoot was held in a shopping mall, where reflective glass balustrades and dense overhead fairy lights posed quite a challenge, as careless lighting could easily blow out wide hot-spots across the leather garments. Fortunately, a wide aperture blurred the background into dreamy bokeh circles, making the subject pop. To reflect the aloof detachment and fractured vulnerability of the character, facial expressions had to remain tightly controlled throughout—keeping warmth out of the eyes while executing strikes and blade draws with absolute, razor-sharp stillness. While assembling the gear and completing the shoot was physically demanding, seeing the final photos made the piercing aura of the dark suit and crimson umbrella palpable.
Shooting inside a mall drew quite a few onlooker crowds, making the task of projecting a calm, immersed solitude before the lens an extra test. Striking the right balance for such cool, detached characters is tricky: pushing too hard turns wooden, while holding back too much feels weak. The waist-up close-up in Photo 1 required engaged shoulders, letting collarbone lines interact with the leather texture to command intimidation. For the umbrella-holding stance in Photo 2, a steady wrist and straight back were necessary to create a striking visual clash between the vibrant red umbrella and the chilly blue-black palette. In the full-body standing shots of Photos 3 and 4, the center of gravity rested on one leg with the other subtly bent, utilizing the heeled boots and long cape to stretch vertical proportions. The choreography and garment materials elevated one another throughout. Slipping out of the tall boots at the end brought immense relief—it was exhausting, but every bit worthwhile.
