Putting on this Herta cosplay outfit and standing in front of the camera with the wand, I really wanted this Cosplay photoshoot to present a sense of composure and elegance that better fits the character herself. I saw someone jokingly ask before if I looked like another characterāof course, that was just a jokeāand this time I completely put my heart into channeling the temperament of Herta herself.
Before this shoot, I made quite a few preparations regarding many details of this costume. The silver-purple tone of the wig complements the skin tone beautifully, and the purple bowtie on top along with the lace texture on the edges perfectly echo the purple floral decorations on the dress. To highlight the black cutout pattern and metal chain at the neckline, I specially adjusted the tightness of the ribbon on my neck, letting the necklace rest exactly below the collarbone. The spliced tailoring of the top is quite difficult to handle, especially the drape of the white tulle at the off-the-shoulder part; I adjusted it several times to finally achieve a relatively smooth effect.
The gloves extend exactly to the base of the fingers. Because the material is thin and sheer, the nimble feel of finger movements is better transmitted through the lens. As for the skirt hem, I really love its irregular layered design; the purple fabric combined with the white lining underneath creates a rich sense of layering when walking.
The keynote of this shoot was set against a solid color background, as I hoped to minimize any distraction from the visual focus of the costume itself. Rim lighting was used to outline the gloss of the silver-white wig strands, while a softbox was aimed at the main line of sight, making the facial features look more three-dimensional and better expressing the translucent quality of the purple contact lenses. The few poses holding the wand weren't actually forced layouts, but rather the natural body curves I imagined if she were to cast a certain skillāfor instance, when I raise the wand in the photo, my shoulders are relaxed and my fingers loosely wrap around it, avoiding any stiffness.
The wand prop itself is very light, but once the gloves are added, making it look casual isn't that easy, so the tension in the arms and fingers must be well-controlled. My absolute favorite part is that tiny dark bowtie at the neckline; it adds a visual dark anchor to the vast expanse of purple and white.
Additionally, the design of the shoulder straps is quite distinctive, carrying a slight cutout feel so that the lines of the shoulders don't look too bulky. I didn't apply overly strong filters during the post-processing of the entire photoset, preserving that subtle purplish-red smudging in the eye makeup to make it blend more cohesively with the outfit.
This Cosplay photoshoot share hopes to display a single instant in dynamic silence rather than exaggerated expressions. Although the overall process was toughāfor example, spending a lot of time putting on the wig and adjusting the garmentsāthe turnout makes me feel it was completely worth it. I hope everyone can feel the atmosphere I transmitted through this set of photos; this is one facet of Herta's daily elegance within the world of Honkai: Star Rail in my heart.
