For this outdoor Kagiyama Hina cosplay shoot, pre-production preparations mainly focused on styling the wig and organizing the costume details. The teal long curly hair paired with the red-and-white Lolita dress, topped with the striking, giant ribbon bow on the head, made the overall styling instantly recognizable. To achieve the desired effect, the makeup deliberately emphasized the contours of the red lips and eye makeup to match the character's temperament.
The shooting location was chosen by a pond in the park, featuring an excellent stone platform. To utilize the water surface to create a crisp reflection in the Outdoor water feature setting, I had to lie on my side across the rough stone, resting my chin in my hand while letting my other hand drape naturally over the water. This pose was quite a test of endurance—the uneven stone surface left my arms and hip bones somewhat sore. Fortunately, the dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves onto the red dress created a gorgeous interplay of light and shadow. The photographer used a wide aperture to blur out the background woods, beautifully accentuating the foreground subject and water reflection. Several white flower petals were also scattered on the water's surface as props to enrich the visual elements.
Overall, this photo set captured the quiet and peaceful side of the character. Because the dress features multiple tiers of lace and ruffles, shooting near water required extra caution to avoid staining the fabric. For fans of Touhou Project, being able to faithfully recreate a character's classic elements through cosplay and freezing such moments in a natural environment is an immensely rewarding experience.
