The process of shooting this official photoshoot was much more complex than I had anticipated; from wig styling to makeup details, and then to securing the eyepatch and cross accessories, almost every step challenged my patience. When creating this look, I specially applied some shaping treatment to the lace edges of the eyepatch so it could tightly fit my facial contours and avoid shifting during dynamic movements. The position of the cross was also adjusted many times, striving to find the perfect point that balances aesthetics and stability. The costume is a custom gothic dress primarily in black and blue. The off-the-shoulder cut demands high standards for the shoulder and neck lines, so I paid special attention to my posture before shooting. The fabric has a rich sense of layering, especially those white lace and pearl strands, which reflect a texture under the warm candlelight that is difficult to completely replicate in post-production. The red eyes were specially selected by me, hoping to form a powerful visual contrast with the black lace eyepatch. The lighting in the early stage and the tones in the post-production of this Dark style portrait set were all meant to lean towards the texture of classical oil paintings. The candlelight and smoke in the scene, along with the mannequin nearby that carries its own eerie aesthetic, jointly constructed that gothic mysterious atmosphere. In fact, wanting to simultaneously showcase both the brightness and mystery of the dark gothic style is quite a test of on-camera expressiveness. During the shooting process, I tried various different angles, including close-up shots to intensify the oppressive feeling of the gaze, as well as full-body sitting postures to showcase the layers of the skirt hem and the pearl decorations on the dress. Because the indoor ambient light itself was dark, the angles of fill light were adjusted for a long time to prevent the face from looking completely black. I struggled a lot when choosing the photos because the state varied greatly under different lighting. I wanted to preserve both those playful moments of slightly sticking out my tongue and the sharp feel of staring seriously at the lens, as they present the multi-dimensional facets of the character's personality. I used some think that such intricate outfits would limit body movements, but once truly immersed, I found that the puffy skirt hem conversely provides excellent support for turning around and sitting down. The moment I finished my makeup, put on this heavy attire, and stepped into the scene, I felt as if I had completely blended into this anime dark world. This is also the state I want to achieve every time I cosplay, doing my best to avoid shadows of daily life and letting myself become the entity that only exists within the setting. In front of the lens, focusing my attention on interacting with the environment, the eyes, posture, and even the movements of the fingertips in this set of photos were actually natural reactions generated after entering the character. I hope these frames, polished through on-site arrangement and makeup/styling details, can truly restore my inner understanding of this look and allow everyone to feel that mysterious and charming tension unique to the gothic style.
