The original intention of this photoshoot was to find a physical space in a real-world setting that matches the coldness and determination of the character's setting. The consideration when choosing the shooting location at the time was the need for sufficient natural negative space. The sea surface and the massive snow-covered breakwaters precisely provided vast color blocks, which could set off the figure to look even more minuscule, thereby highlighting that isolated yet firm aura.

In terms of the outfit, this black form-fitting uniform jacket was specially customized. To preserve the skeletal structure and neatness of the character's original setting, the shoulders of the jacket were designed with slight shoulder pads so they wouldn't collapse in the strong wind. The bright white layer at the collar is highly critical; while forming a high contrast with the black jacket, it also brightens the face's state on camera. The hem and cuffs retain basic decorative details, paired with black leather trousers and a pair of over-the-knee black leather boots. These long boots were a massive help during the actual shoot because the shallow beach at the location had a lot of gravel, and the boot soles' thickness and slip resistance were sufficient to support me standing and walking back and forth for a long time.

In the makeup design, the focus was mainly on the realism of the skin texture and the eyes' expression. The character's gaze needs to convey a clearness that transcends the heavy reality, so I basically maintained the original base makeup, only specifically deepening the shadow contours of the eye sockets to focus the visual attention between the brows and eyes. Paired with those classic black thin-framed glasses, the overall facial styling's completion was exceptionally high. For the hairstyle, the reddish-brown hair strands serve as a wonderful warm-toned accent against the grayish-white environment. During the first few test shots, the wind blew the wig into a mess. Later, we adjusted the wind's direction to make the hair strands' flowing trajectory more linear, and the photographer also precisely captured that dynamic moment.

Because the shooting location was in a wind gap, the temperature on that day was actually much lower than forecasted. The waves splashing against the reefs were freezing cold when hitting my body. We spent most of our time moving between the sandy beach and the pile of chaotic rocks. The relaxed and casual leaning or walking states presented in the photos were actually worked out through balancing my body's center of gravity time and again in extremely narrow standing spaces. To achieve that immersive atmospheric photography vibe, we used almost no extra lighting equipment, relying entirely on the cold white natural light reflected from the overcast sea surface to sculpt the character's silhouette and shadows.

For three or four of these photos, I experimented with visual techniques of post-production collages and image overlays. I decided to adopt this expression because pure natural landscape photography sometimes struggles to fully reach the shattered essence at the character's core. By slicing and displacing the frozen moments, I tried to transform abstract concepts like 'pruning' and 'oblivion' into visual, concrete fragments. However, in the end, we still kept a pure full-body photo of walking along the seashore as the main axis, because that pure natural sense of extension is often the most touching part.

When shooting the sequence of walking, I repeatedly paced near the coastline to leave clear footprints on the soft, wet sand. To get a sweeping shot from a low perspective, the photographer was practically pressed against the freezing, wet sand. Although the process of repeatedly adjusting the camera angle was quite grueling, when we saw that frame in the viewfinder, we all felt that all efforts were completely worth it. The white foam of the waves, the black trousers, and the light brown of the beach formed a very sophisticated cool-toned color block, completely achieving the visual effects we had anticipated before the winter seaside location shoot.

This photoset is not just a simple cosplay session; it is more of a way to try and recreate that moment of inner peace in a real environment. Although my body was somewhat frozen stiff, it was precisely because of this natural physical sensation that I could better immerse myself in this environment setting filled with a sense of solemnity. Facing these reefs and icy water with the character's emotions seemed to let me experience more intuitively the sliver of light still remaining in such a harsh background.
