The one-day store manager collaboration event between Star Interactive and Strinova finally landed at Shanghai Wujiaochang Hopson One. Meeting everyone in Kanami's look, the atmosphere combining an arcade and 2D style was truly maxed out. Starting from the makeup and styling preparation stage, the color matching and tailoring of this outfit actually test the lighting quite a bit; the color-blocking of the white pleated skirt and black top, paired with pink accents, in an environment with such complex light sources like an arcade, made me deliberately choose cool-toned blue contact lenses to enhance the overall texture. In terms of hairstyle handling, the high twin-tail positions and the bang curves were adjusted for quite a long time to match the visual effect of the original design, trying to make the wig's flow look natural.
The venue layout was very thoughtful. I studied the joystick at the claw machine for a long time, and the light reflections from the white plush toys inside the machine hitting my face created an unexpectedly good light and shadow effect. To match the arcade theme, I also picked up a toy gun and posed in a few shooting stances. Although I don't usually play shooting games much, holding the props still made me try hard to capture that focused gaze. The full-body photo in picture 3 is one I really like, leaning against the game cabinet; this pairing of white over-the-knee boots and black leg rings showcases the 2D tactical/functional style, and with the neon sign in the background, there was no need to deliberately strike overly complex poses—standing naturally was enough to get a great shot.
The shooting equipment used this time was a SONY A7M5 paired with a 24-70mm F2.8 GM II. Under indoor lighting, the large aperture's bokeh filtered out passersby in the background while retaining a bit of the arcade's ambient light, making the scene's atmosphere even stronger. During post-processing, I didn't heavily adjust the colors; instead, I mainly darkened the highlights of the background to make the character stand out more, preserving the retro yet futuristic neon feel unique to the arcade.
Over at the store manager counter, I also interacted while holding small cards printed with the character, and the freebies and standees placed on the table were all carefully prepared. As a one-day store manager, not only was I responsible for getting great photos, but I also had to interact with the players on-site. Being able to experience the joy of gaming with everyone in this space full of arcade elements was a very fulfilling thing. Many visiting players were very enthusiastic, which also let me feel everyone's love for this character and work. Players were gaming on-site the whole time, and the sound of claw machines mixed with the arcade background music actually tested concentration during shooting quite a bit, but in this environment, candidly captured states are often the most vivid.
The shooting and interaction rhythm for the entire afternoon was relatively tight, but it basically checked off all the amusement items worth experiencing, from arcade battles to claw machines, recording these memories belonging to the arcade through the lens.
