[Sandrone Marionette cosplay] Genshin Impact: An elegant tea party in a vintage study

For this Sandrone Marionette shoot, extensive effort went into the costume details. The primary palette of black, white, and gold is framed by cascading ruffled tiers, with a ruby gem set into the high-neck choker collar, while the khaki pleats on the cuffs and the bodice decorations were built from rich, tactile layers of fabric. The wig was a long, curled blonde style with blunt bangs and side strands framing the face, topped with a white ruffled Maid outfit bonnet featuring contrasting red and black accents. To fit her identity as a Fatui Harbinger in Genshin Impact, I used a cool-toned foundation and elongated the eye makeup, emphasizing that delicate yet emotionally detached 2D anime aesthetic.

The location was chosen in a vintage study room, where the prop crew arranged a globe, quill pen, ink bottles, candle holders, and delicate tea sets against a backdrop of wooden bookshelves packed with gold-embossed tomes. To heighten the mysterious atmosphere, a fog machine was deployed during shooting; as the haze drifted, the illumination cast gorgeous rim lighting along my silhouette. Exceptional care went into props, set dressing, and lighting: the photographer made brilliant use of side-backlighting filtering through the window, supported by artificial studio lights, allowing the rich weave of the black gown and the crisp texture of the white apron to emerge with crystalline clarity on camera.

Pose-wise, I kept mostly still—holding lightly clenched fists over my chest or leaning subtly forward while grasping the neckline—striving to convey that characteristic marionette presence of being ostensibly motionless yet quietly observing the world. The White stockings and voluminous skirt required constant smoothing to ensure fluid, natural lines in every frame. The sleeves of this outfit are exceptionally long and billowy, requiring deliberate angling when holding a teacup so that the ruffled cuffs draped naturally. We used copious haze throughout the session; although the set was a bit stifling to breathe in, the final imagery made it completely worthwhile.

For eye expressions, I avoided exaggerated facial movements, instead contrasting subtly downcast eyes with direct, piercing stares into the lens. Between takes, the photographer and I continually fine-tuned camera angles to prevent the expansive skirt from looking bulky, while accentuating the elegant sweep of the golden lines along the hem. The addition of the White stockings served as a crucial design anchor: it preserved the character's 2D anime identity while injecting an airy touch of lightness against the somber, grounded study setting. The entire shoot prioritized meticulous detail control—from the wig's airy volume down to the subtle curl of each finger—all striving to align faithfully with the lore.
