This time, I set the shoot in my most-frequented gaming room, thinking it would be the perfect chance to try a mashup of an e-sports girl and a cat-like girl in a maid outfit. The core of the entire look is this pink-and-white striped short-sleeve maid outfit, with thick white lace trim at the collar and cuffs, contrasted with black ribbon bows to give the initially very girly pink a bit more depth. To match the cat-like theme, I chose a fluffy white cat-ear headband for the top of my head, and then layered on a pair of pink cat ear headphones. This layered look makes the overall styling appear much fuller. The giant plush cat paw pillow in my hands is the crowning touch, serving as a physical cat element that I can interact with at any time.
Putting on this outfit, pairing it with white thigh-high stockings, and sitting in my pink gaming chair instantly brings a subtle shift in temperament. The long white stockings combined with the pleated design of the skirt hem make the leg proportions look much better, especially in these half-reclined or forward-leaning sitting poses, which beautifully showcase both the garment details and body contours. In this set, I experimented with a few different states: lounging lazily against the backrest with my feet on the gaming chair's footrest for pure relaxation; crossing my arms with a slightly cool attitude; and wearing the headphones while holding their edges and looking into the lens, using close-ups to highlight my gaze and expression.
When shooting this kind of theme, many people often force awkward poses. But in a familiar personal space, comfort and naturalness are always the best states. The small tattoo on my right arm is visible in this set, and I didn't deliberately cover it up, because combining my real-life state with the outfits I love feels the most natural. As for the indoor lighting, besides the basic illumination, the blue and purple ambient lights in the background provide a wonderful cybernetic touch. This interplay of warm and cool lights perfectly balances the sweetness of the pink maid outfit, preventing the overall frame from looking too sugary and adding the unique edge and personality of a gaming room.
Out of the entire outfit, what I'm most satisfied with is actually the combination of the cat ear headphones on my head and the lace on the skirt hem. It's packed with 2D elements while still preserving the girly charm I love in daily wear. To get the best angles during the shoot, I frequently adjusted the position and height of the gaming chair. Although adjusting a chair in a maid outfit is slightly inconvenient, fortunately, the chair itself is very sturdy and provided great support. Under the lens of this cosplay photography session, these seemingly casual snapshots often best convey a beauty close to real life. Rather than a forced cosplay, it's more like using this outfit to add a special sense of ceremony to my daily gaming time. Life ultimately needs a few cute touches, and today's record of 'growing a cat on a gaming chair' is a little reflection on my romantic life, hoping to preserve this relaxed, natural atmosphere exactly as it was.
