[Ram Cosplay] Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World — Afternoon of the Roswaal Manor Maid

Shooting this Ram cosplay set in front of this retro European bakery on the street corner really maxed out the sense of atmosphere. The outfit worn was specially prepared for an anime convention before; today, happening to pass by this shop and seeing the warm lighting in the window and wooden tables and chairs, it felt so fitting with the exquisite, classic vibe of Ram working as a maid at the Roswaal Manor, so I had the photographer snap a few shots.

First regarding styling and makeup, I used a light pink short hair wig this time, securing the signature black flower and pearl headband on top, decorated with a light purple ribbon bow. In terms of hairstyle, I paid special attention to the bang curvature; to recreate the character's sharp yet tsundere aura, I wore a red contact lens in my left eye and appropriately deepened the eyeliner to highlight energy. Besides the classic white X-shaped hair clips on the face, there were no overly distracting embellishments.

The clothing section features a complete modified maid outfit, with the main body being a black waist-cinched long dress paired with numerous layers of white ruffles. The neckline and cuffs both feature lace piping, with a white apron and bow at the chest. What I love most about this outfit is its sleeve cuff design: black fabric paneled with a large area of white lace trim, complemented by a splash of purple lining accent, giving the otherwise large black-and-white areas extra color layers. For the lower half, I paired white stockings with thick-soled black glossy Mary Jane shoes; this retro shoe style matches the entire photoshoot's atmosphere very well.

The photographer's framing angles during shooting were very clever. At first, we took a few seated full-body shots, choosing to sit on a wooden high-backed chair with legs naturally crossed, slightly turning the torso to look back over the shoulder. This angle displays full-body costume details and white stocking lines beautifully; combined with the delicate cake display inside the window behind and the gorgeous crystal chandelier above, the overall composition looks remarkably elegant. Later, we added a top-down half-body close-up pose, leaning a chin on a hand while looking into the lens, which was well-suited for depicting the character's calm yet slightly haughty feeling.

There was actually a small episode during shooting: because it took place in the outdoor area of a commercial shop, passing pedestrians stopped to watch from time to time, making me a bit shy at first. But after discussing framing ideas with the photographer, I gradually relaxed and found my groove. Potted plants by the shop entrance and the small wooden round table nearby framed the image with a sense of everyday life and depth. I feel that cosplay photography isn't about stuffing oneself into an empty box, but rather generating a curious chemical reaction with real-world environments. Like this set, placing an anime character into a real three-dimensional street cafe actually adds a touch of vividness and realism.

In post-processing, the photographer maintained high image clarity and suppressed background highlights, achieving great separation between subject and environment. Facial skin texture wasn't overly smoothed, preserving a more natural complexion. Hair strands and costume edge details were well preserved. Overall color tone was adjusted toward warm yellow, perfectly unifying with the window lighting atmosphere. The most satisfying moment in shooting cosplay is seeing oneself on photo achieve a magical harmony with the character; the moment final photos come out, all prior effort feels thoroughly worth it.
