Attempting to use an Industrial style outdoor location to recreate the sleek and capable temperament of Wishadel's Supernova look; this set of photos serves as a direct presentation of the character's personality. We chose this massive crane area as the shooting location, where the orange steel structure forms an excellent visual contrast with the character's black, white, and red color palette. This time, I used the Sony A7R V paired with a Xingyao 35mm F1.8 lens. The wide aperture truly brought a strong sense of space to the frame during low-angle or high-angle shots.
The outdoor light was quite harsh, and the ambient light kept shifting throughout the day, so grasping that bright and translucent feeling was crucial for restoring this costume. In terms of costume details, the red and black straps, the white hollowed-out skirt hem, and the mechanical-style hair accessories on the wig demand high color fidelity under intense light. The high pixel count of the Sony A7R V handles capturing these fine textures with zero pressure. The bracers and the tactical pouch at the waist are highlights of the entire outfit, adding a touch of real-combat texture.
This kind of industrial scene with a strong structural feel is actually perfect for enhancing a character's aura. Standing or sitting, the movements don't need to be too large; echoing the geometric lines of the background is more than enough. Low-angle shots can better showcase the fluttering of the skirt hem and the sense of visual extension. I specially practiced that slightly lazy yet confident hand gesture and gaze, which is a standout part of Wishadel's character design. Pairing it with this industrial-element scene gives the figure a much stronger sense of narrative.
For the final color treatment, I didn't do too much stylization, trying my best to preserve the color tone of the physical environment itself. During the shoot, the wind provided some unexpected pleasant surprises in shaping the white fabric and skirt hem, adding a flowing sense of elegance to the frame. Paired with Sony's real-time tracking autofocus, it could precisely lock onto eye details even during dynamic candid captures. Since the ambient light in industrial scenes is quite complex, the focus this time was on highlighting the layers between the black-and-white main body and the highly saturated red decorations, ensuring the visual focus always lands on the figure. Rather than deliberate exaggeration, this combination of strength and softness might be a direction worth exploring for this recreation for my Cosplay photography portfolio.
