For this outdoor shoot outside the Black Dragonfly Expo, I chose this blue-and-white checkered maid outfit paired with oversized bunny ears, going for a lively and energetic vibe overall. For props, I prepared a water gun, a camera, and that extra-large white bunny plush pillow—all little items that fit the character's personality perfectly. By the time we started shooting, it was already dark, so we relied entirely on the photographer's high-powered flash to overpower the ambient light, carving out a sharp three-dimensional silhouette on the lawn. Rainbow bubbles blown from a bubble machine floated across the dark blue night sky, adding plenty of visual flair. In the second half, I tried low-angle half-squat shots holding the camera, as well as walking and spinning while holding a drink, constantly adjusting facial expressions and poses to capture the character's nimble vitality. The dress features multiple skirt layers that flow beautifully when jumping or leaning forward; paired with white ankle socks and Mary Jane shoes, the visual contrast was striking. The shooting process was genuinely tiring with all the continuous jumping and posing, but seeing the lighting and mood in the final photos made it completely worthwhile. The convention atmosphere was very contagious, and finding a clean patch of lawn as an outdoor night view backdrop—framed by streetlights and tree silhouettes—yielded results far beyond expectations. From equipment synergy and lighting angles to prop coordination, this convention photography experiment gave me much deeper insights into nighttime on-location shoots.
