Changing into Tachibana Hikari's railway uniform and standing beside this massive steam locomotive, time seemed to slow down in an instant. The black metal locomotive body and rugged rivet lines carried a heavy industrial atmosphere, perfectly setting off the crisp sharpness of this blue uniform. Putting on that peaked service cap adorned with a golden emblem instantly boosted my energy, making me feel like a little commander on duty along the tracks.
The shooting location was truly special—the vintage train depot preserved an authentic steam-era aesthetic. Against the dark backdrop, the green hair and the light green spiral halo above my head were very eye-catching. Along with the elf ears styling—though I initially worried whether attached pointed ears might look stiff on camera—photographer Liekong-san framed angles masterfully, using side lighting from the locomotive to keep the entire contour surprisingly natural. The slightly tsundere, spirited personality from the character lore was also a key trait I consciously channeled in my posing. Especially when snapping that crisp salute, I genuinely slipped into character, wondering what fun challenges Sensei might encounter in my jurisdiction today.
Great care went into the wardrobe and accessories: the double-breasted blue jacket with white cuff stripes and golden button accents created rich texture, while the diagonal black leather strap prevented the silhouette from looking plain. The miniskirt and White tights on the lower half, paired with dark blue uniform boots, struck a great balance between railway conductor formality and outdoor mobility. Many might assume railway workwear looks dull, but infused with anime-style cinched tailoring, flared skirts, and tights, it offered high comfort and unrestricted movement. Posing by the locomotive handrails, the contrast between the white gloves and dark metal also brought a lovely highlight to the frame.
Behind the scenes of this styling and shoot, I originally planned to find expansive outdoor tracks, but due to venue conditions and schedules, we settled on the sheltered locomotive shed. This semi-indoor space actually provided fantastic diffused lighting, avoiding harsh shadows from direct sunlight and rendering the blue uniform and skin tones with much softer fidelity. The photographer was very restrained in composition, keeping the vast black silhouette of the engine as a backdrop to showcase the twin conductor's fearless composure even before towering machinery. In my view, while Hikari may not be the most overpowered presence in the game, her diligent dedication to her duties and her adorable tsundere charm are what truly draw players to her story, so I wanted to convey that blend of professional earnestness and playful charisma before the lens.
Standing, saluting, and holding the handrails—every action needed to convey everyday realism effortlessly, which is often trickier to portray than grand, dramatic motions. To keep the imagery clean and crisp, garment creases and wig lines were meticulously groomed beforehand. During shoot breaks, I also felt the physical heft of the steam locomotive; resting my hand on iron parts bearing traces of rust and machine oil gave me a genuine feel for the industrial age's raw textures. Overall, this project was more than simple character replication—it was an engaging creative dialogue with the character's spirit in a unique Cosplay daily life environment.
