[Shimoe Koharu Cosplay] Blue Archive: Black Wings and Polka Dot Stockings Casual Convention Shoot

At the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo, I brought my live photoshoot of Shimoe Koharu, a character from Blue Archive. Let's dive straight into the core of this styling: the black polka dot mesh long-sleeve top on the upper body, gathered at the collar with white piping to create a crisp lapel effect. Under the natural outdoor light, the fabric of the entire top presents a highly lightweight, semi-sheer texture, creating a dark sense of layering with the inner lining. The sleeve cuff design is also a key highlight of this set, adopting black-and-white contrasting rings that beautifully frame the wrist lines when lifting my arms or bending my elbows.

On the lower body, I paired it with a black high-waisted pleated skirt. This cut is excellent for raising the waistline, cooperating with the black feathered wings on both sides of my waist that were specifically reinforced. From a side-front perspective, the skirt hem and wings form a complete fan-shaped silhouette. Regarding the fixation of these wings, I used iron wire as a foundation in the early stages, and then secured them to the back shoulder straps of the clothing with matching hot glue. This ensures the wings stay upright even when crouching, raising my arms, or even running.

The coordination of the legs is the key to this visual attraction; I chose a pair of black polka dot tights for this black tights outfit. The density of these polka dots, set against the glossy black platform Mary Jane shoes, creates a visual elongation that really lengthens the leg lines. In the design of the sitting poses, the texture of these black tights is especially emphasized. I tried naturally crossing my legs, using the metal frame of the bench as a light-and-shadow cutting line, capturing the luster variations of the tights under different reflection angles.

For the hair and headpieces, I wore a light pink-and-white twin-tail wig, adorned with black feathered ear ornaments on both sides. Paired with the pink halo headpiece featuring red horn elements on top, these elements combined to make the character's overall image look visually fuller. To coordinate with this makeup, I chose a shimmering dark red eyeshadow, while using highly vibrant pink-purple circle lenses for the eyes. This allowed the facial layering to beautifully echo the attire.

The scene for this shoot was chosen in a rest area outside the exhibition hall, mainly because of that light golden bench and the large area of gray glass curtain wall. The reflection of the cool-toned glass and the warm light filtering from inside the venue created a highly distinct warm-and-cool contrast. During the Cosplay photography session, I tried several poses according to our pre-planned sequence: the first pose is with hands resting naturally on my knees, utilizing the sheer mesh perspective and the long legs of the black tights to balance the frame's proportions; the second is with both hands clasped at my chest, eyes slightly upturned, working with the side wings to create a spiritual sense of subtle movement; the third is with one hand raised high and eyes closed, purely capturing a flowing, dynamic moment; the fourth is with both hands folded in front of me, fingers stretched out, presenting a relatively dignified static pose; and lastly, holding the sketchbook prop and striking a V-sign to directly interact with the lens.

During this process, regarding the 'no shrimp line challenge' (a posing style that avoids slouching and wrinkles to keep lines clean), I actually carefully adjusted my ankles and knees during sitting transitions to avoid visual breaks, ensuring the continuity of the polka-dot tights.

Even though the crowd was massive on the day of the convention, we were extremely lucky in choosing our shooting angles, as there were very few passersby in the background, keeping the frame perfectly clean. Regarding equipment, we used a large-aperture prime lens, melting the glass curtain wall behind into a soft, blue-gray tone. To highlight the polka-dot sheer effect of the top, I used a lightweight matte setting powder during my makeup touch-up to prevent excessive glare from affecting the fine details of the mesh.

Overall, this was an exceptionally pleasant Blue Archive character photography practice. This Shimoe Koharu outfit is somewhat tedious in its accessories, but the final visual feedback is highly concrete and solid. The color saturation of the final output was controlled within cool tones, and combined with the interplay of matte and gloss on the black tights and mesh, it beautifully expressed the character's inherent sense of refinement. I look forward to completing more cosplay creations under such a light-and-shadow atmosphere. The entire shooting experience was smooth, without major issues, and I am highly satisfied with this final presentation.
