For this summer outdoor water shoot, I went straight for Arona's swimsuit look. The classic blue-and-white color scheme of this AI assistant from Blue Archive looks incredibly refreshing in the sunlight. The iconic light blue gradient wig and the halo above her head are the core of the styling, which, paired with the ribbon tie and white high-waisted swimsuit, is both highly recognizable and lively in this pool and paddleboard setting. Since the shoot took place on the water, the paddleboard served as an excellent prop for interaction. Lying prone or kneeling on it allowed me to interact naturally with the ripples, capturing dynamic poses through snapshots. The reflection of the water combined perfectly with the natural daylight of a clear day, enabling a translucent skin texture without needing excessive fill lights. To adapt to water activities, I chose a lightweight, long-lasting base makeup along with a dewy lip color, ensuring the makeup stayed intact even when sweating. Apart from the paddleboard, we also tried different angles near the adjacent low white wall and the poolside. High-angle and side shots effectively showcased the tailoring details of the outfit, while the background of the blue sky, white clouds, and palm trees formed rich anime-style elements. Outdoor cosplay shoots on water actually require a fair amount of stamina, as the paddleboard wobbles on the surface, requiring a stable core to adjust body posture. Fortunately, the sunlight was abundant and the water temperature was very comfortable that day. Ultimately, doing cosplay is all about enjoying the process of immersing oneself into the character. This kind of outdoor real-scene shoot—dealing with the blue sky, white clouds, and water splashes—possesses a natural vitality that studio shoots lack. This Arona cosplay look works wonderfully outdoors, and I hope it fully delivers this refreshing summer vibe through this set of atmospheric photography.
