Sharing this Yatogami Tohka outfit with everyone today. To faithfully recreate this character's aura from Date A Live, we did plenty of research on costume materials before the shoot. The main body features deep purple leather textures accented by metallic gold edges; the high collar cut and the blue-green gems on the chest demand precise fitting, and thankfully, A Qi's makeup and wig curl volume carried the look flawlessly.
The Greatsword prop was the true centerpiece of this shoot; its weight was formidable, making one-handed poses prone to trembling. However, the blade's metallic finish caught the light brilliantly, and paired with the blue energy veins and red gem accents, it looked spectacular under directional illumination. Huge thanks to photographer Xingyou for guiding the shoot—he used purple ambient backlighting to forge a cohesive atmosphere. Posing was mostly focused on how to handle the blade gracefully, since pairing heavy armor with a greatsword easily risks looking clunky.
In full-body shots, the combination of the pink bouffant skirt and the dark structured corset flattered body proportions, while the boots elongated the leg lines. My personal favorite is the straight-on full-body shot holding the sword, as the simplest pose best displayed the holistic unity of the full suit. For close-up frames, the focus shifted to the intensity in the gaze; the pale purple lenses held immense piercing power under the sharp violet light.
A Qi's expressiveness was fantastic, effortlessly channeling this aloof yet regal persona. We continuously adjusted stances and expressions throughout the session. Because the armor pieces are relatively stiff and structured, actions like lifting the arms or resting the sword over the shoulder required conscious shoulder and back muscle control to prevent awkward creasing. We hope this archive set faithfully captures the ethereal, regal beauty of the spirit Yatogami Tohka that everyone envisions.
