Putting on Nami's iconic red halter mini dress from the Whole Cake Island Arc of One Piece, the capability and playfulness belonging to the navigator naturally flow out. The long orange wig was braided into an exquisite bun according to the setting. To pursue a higher degree of character accuracy, I specially added the blue-green tattoo sticker on my left arm—dedication is best reflected in these small details. In terms of props, that brightly colored long staff not only has a high degree of restoration but also feels quite substantial when posing with it. For the best final photos, the photographer and I repeatedly adjusted our standing postures and gaze angles, trying to capture her demeanor from different perspectives.
This set of photos was shot in a street scene full of daily life atmosphere. The bright yellow window frames, the lush flowers, and the edge of the black pool with reflections all provide rich visual layers for the figure. The sunlight generously spills onto the red fabric, outlining the tailoring lines of the clothing; the contrast between the highly saturated red and the light and shadow of the environment is outstanding. Actually, maintaining this posture during the shooting process is not as easy as it looks. On one hand, I had to keep my facial expression from failing, and on the other hand, I had to steady the long staff in my hands to avoid a shift in the center of gravity. However, being able to bring my favorite 2D character into the real world is inherently a highly fulfilling thing.
From the selection and trimming of the wig to the meticulous adjustments of the outfit, and then to the polishing of the prop's weight and feel, every step of the early preparation was actually paving the way for the final frame. This set of photos did not intentionally pursue exaggerated special effects synthesis, but rather hoped to integrate the character into real streets, letting light, shadow, and body movements present her independent and charming temperament in the Whole Cake Island Arc. To me, this is not just an experience of casual cosplay, but a precious record of materializing my passion through Anime-style photography.
