Waking up early to rush to the venue left me so sleepy I could barely open my eyes, but the moment I slipped into this blue-and-white sailor uniform and stood before the ChinaJoy set, I instantly channeled Laffey's "full of motivation" vibe. The backdrop chosen this time was an exceptionally great match for Azur Lane Laffey II—stained-glass windows, red velvet drapes, and this gorgeous white-and-gold high-back chair made it feel like an indoor set custom-tailored for this character.

Everyone knows that in lore, Laffey is an adorable girl who can fall asleep anytime, anywhere—whether at the port or out at sea, whenever she's tired, she just closes her eyes. So I naturally possess that "sleeping anywhere without being OOC" trait myself, and the more we shot, the more I felt this Laffey cosplay truly mirrored my current state! Yet the moment I was before the lens—especially in the third photo reaching my finger toward the camera—it instantly maxed out Laffey's energetic aura of "Commander, I'm full of energy now, ready for sortie!" Because I was fundamentally exhausted, posing relied heavily on immersing myself into the character's mindset, using body language to convey that unique mix of languid drowsiness and spirited drive.

Cosplaying Azur Lane Laffey II this time, the costume adds plenty of layered, flowing lightness on top of the primary blue-and-white sailor suit theme. The blue-and-white ribbon bows and antenna-like 3D accessories on the head, along with long white streamers draping on both sides, create wonderful dynamic motion with every step. The sleeves feature an oversized lantern design layered with semi-transparent light blue tulle, which not only enriches visual depth but also gives the entire silhouette an airy agility. Hanging across the chest is a pendant necklace with green beads, accented by various metallic clips—all meticulously crafted to recreate the character's delicate details. The white twin-tail wig was brushed out fluffy and secured with hair accessories, which, paired with reddish-pink eyeshadow and jelly lip makeup, highlighted the character's cuteness while making facial contours pop under the studio lighting.

When it comes to photography, this set had almost no complex post-processing, relying entirely on lighting and framing. Among the three shots, my favorite is the third: wide-angle perspective paired with an outstretched arm created visual tension that broke the fourth wall, capturing both the character's spirited presence and flawlessly showcasing the layers of the sailor skirt alongside the White stockings cosplay. Sitting on the European high-back chair allowed the hem of the sailor uniform to spread out naturally, combining the sweetness of the original design with the distinctive uniform appeal of Azur Lane. The first and second photos adopted classic medium shots, showcasing Laffey's daily playful charm through gestures like touching her chin or making a peace sign, leaving plenty of room for future posts and layout styling.

Although capturing ChinaJoy convention photos usually involves long queues, early morning makeup, and hauling heavy bags of costumes, being able to shoot on a set so well-matched to the character and working with a photographer who understands your pacing to bring Azur Lane Laffey II to life made every bit of effort worthwhile. The experience of wearing White stockings cosplay with a sailor uniform was fantastic, and the garment's breathability was quite forgiving in the indoor venue, preventing heat from draining my energy.
