[Zhen Hai cosplay] For this set of Zhen Hai photos shot at the convention, I chose two finished photos that best express the dynamic tension of the look to share. Because the overhead lighting inside the exhibition hall was very chaotic, the photographer specifically used a selective desaturation technique in post-processing, lowering the entire background to black, white, and gray. This highlights the character's makeup, outfit colors, and textures, focusing the visual center completely on the character. The lighting contrast at the venue was actually quite large, which really tested how clean the makeup was.

Regarding the outfit, the design of this high-slit black Qipao is truly fantastic. The fabric has a subtle sheen that creates a soft reflective effect under the hall's top lighting. The high slit paired with long black gloves and nude stockings visually elongates the body proportions. The gold thread embroidery and tassel details on the sides of the dress are also very exquisitely made; although they might not be super clear in the photos, the actual garment feels substantial and premium in hand. To match the overall design blending traditional Chinese style with modern aesthetics, I paired it with black patent leather high heels. The reflectivity of the leather adds more layers and texture to the look.

In terms of props, the white feather folding fan is the finishing touch. The lightness of the feathers combined with the draped tassels creates a wonderful dynamic extension when waved. To balance the visual weight of the frame, I chose a matching large white flower and tassel hairpin for the headpieces. Instead of overly complex or heavy gold and silver jewelry, light white flowers were used to balance the heavy feel of the black outfit, making the overall look more vivid and dynamic without feeling dull.

For posing, we specifically brought a black folding ladder to the venue. The standing pose in Photo 1 is more dynamic; placing one foot on the ladder visually elongates the leg line while extending the wide sleeves, enhancing presence and aura. The sitting pose in Photo 2 is actually my personal favorite angle. Gathering the legs and extending them forward nicely shows off the texture of the stockings and patent heels, making it ideal for displaying the character's calm, elegant, yet mysterious temperament in an indoor exhibition environment with a touch of industrial feel. Although this pose looks effortless, maintaining core stability actually took a lot of effort—especially keeping balance in high heels on smooth flooring, which required subtle adjustments to my center of gravity. We shot dozens of photos before selecting the one with the most graceful lines.

Photography composition and location selection were also crucial. During the shoot, we tried our best to avoid crowded areas and display shelves, utilizing the depth of the side aisles to keep the character in the center of the frame. This composition looks clean and grand. The highlight of these two photos lies in the photographer's mastery of light and shadow; even without complex professional lighting setups, utilizing the natural diffuse reflections of the environment allowed the dress outline and the drape of the ribbons to appear soft and fluid, matching the natural elegance of the Qipao.

Whenever I wear an outfit with large sleeves and high slits for cosplay photography at a convention, my biggest worry is getting the clothes dirty or stepping on the hem, so the range of motion and movement paths must be carefully planned in advance. However, seeing the calm and understated visual presentation in the final photos makes all the effort feel completely worthwhile. To complement this look, I chose an orange-toned red lip color, which is bright enough to enhance the complexion without being overly flashy. The eye makeup emphasizes long, slender lines to capture the character's charm. Furthermore, given the busy crowds at the convention, completing such a relaxed shoot in this environment wouldn't have been possible without the cooperation and space yielded by passersby. I felt quite satisfied with my state during this shoot, as it captured most of the character's unique charm, and I hope to maintain this state to record even richer content across more convention settings.
