The crowd at Day 2 of CP31 was still dense, but today next to a booth, as a Laffey hugging a giant carrot, I unexpectedly experienced the hilarious situation of being "the most unnoticed cosplayer in the hall."
This blue-and-white sailor-style look paired with white twin tails isn't uncommon at anime conventions, but it's precisely this relaxed, nonchalant feel—combined with the massive orange Plush toy carrot in my arms—that made me exude a lazy aura of "refusing to work."
This carrot Plush toy is genuinely soft, made of delicate short-pile cotton, offering immense comfort when hugged. But because it was so huge and took up quite a bit of space, it was truly a "giant hurdle" while navigating the hall, accidentally bumping into passersby's backpacks a few times. However, it made a perfect photo prop: holding it up, hugging it, or resting it beside my legs enriched the composition and color palette of the frame. Today, I specifically asked Zeze Shark to help document it, who is amazing at capturing these candid, spontaneous moments.
Let's talk about the outfit. The over-the-knee white stockings in this White stockings cosplay match the character's style wonderfully, creating a smooth and even skin tone texture. Paired with those oversized white cartoon slippers, it created a delightfully exaggerated, cute silhouette. Honestly speaking, walking on concrete convention floors in such bulky slippers really tested my ankles; improper balance could easily cause a stumble, so I paid close attention to my center of gravity during posing, which was crucial during the shoot.
As for being "unnoticed," it wasn't that nobody cared at all, but rather that a few hyper-popular IP booths were right next to me, drawing all the foot traffic away. Curled up in the corner holding my carrot, I looked exceptionally quiet—some passersby even mistook me for a giant anime IP merchandise display without realizing I was a real cosplayer! But this undisturbed feeling was quite nice; I didn't have to keep smiling and posing constantly and could quietly soak in the convention's atmosphere.
Photography-wise, the hall's harsh overhead lights are notoriously unforgiving to white wigs, easily blowing them out into chalky white. Thanks to the photographer's patient angle adjustments, we preserved the delicate hair strands and reflective sheen of the wig. The pose lifting a leg and flashing a peace sign was actually a test of core balance—keeping the hips steady while ensuring the elongated lines of the White stockings cosplay weren't overly distorted by the wide-angle lens.
Finally, some thoughts on Anime convention snapshots: combining a Plush toy with over-the-knee stockings truly tests the cleanliness of the surrounding environment. The convention hall was noisy with complex, shifting light, but finding a corner with relatively even illumination—like casually grabbing a black folding chair to sit on today and crossing or extending legs to break the vertical lines—often yields the most natural, unstaged shots. A sleepy afternoon zoning out with a giant carrot, tired yet happy—this is the authentic reality of offline conventions in Azur Lane cosplay.
