[Raiden Shogun cosplay] Genshin Impact: Ei's Inazuma Chronicle

Bringing this Genshin Impact Raiden Shogun cosplay shoot from prep to final frames took about a full month. To capture the commanding presence Raiden Ei wields across Inazuma City, we poured dedicated care into hair, makeup, and lighting design.

Styling the wig was the most time-intensive part of the process. The blunt bangs and signature thick braid required meticulous sectioning, styling, and generous amounts of hairspray to sustain smooth shine—avoiding frizz while keeping an airy, sweeping drape. For makeup, I wore pale violet contact lenses true to the Raiden Shogun's gaze, complemented by purple-toned eyeshadow flicked upward at the outer corners and rich crimson lips, aiming to evoke the detached, regal coldness of an overarching deity.

Costume-wise, this modified kimono features intricate, layered tailoring. The lilac outer robe is piped with deep plum and gold trims, cinched at the waist with an obi detailed with gold cord knots and tassels, while the black choker and red cord at the collar add defining accents. To ensure unhindered movement without bunching up, I made numerous foundation adjustments underneath. For the bottoms, I specifically selected glossy black fitted leggings whose sheen mimics a Stockings cosplay texture under studio strobes—elongating the leg silhouette while keeping lines razor-sharp during kneeling or cross-legged stances without fabric creases disrupting the aesthetic.

The set was styled with tatami mats, paper lanterns, red maples, and wisteria. Warm amber lights contrasted boldly against the cool violet attire. To emphasize subject dimensionality in low-key lighting, we blended rim lighting with kicker backlights, rimming hair and garment contours in subtle gold to add visual depth.

When gripping the katana, I steadied my wrist as my gaze sharpened, treating the blade not merely as a weapon, but as an extension of her unyielding resolve. Holding the red-and-white festival fan, I closed my eyes in quiet contemplation, expressing Ei's tranquility and solitary burden in her pursuit of eternity. Sustaining half-kneeling and suspended-arm stances kept muscles engaged throughout, and despite the studio heat, reviewing the finished frames replaced fatigue with profound fulfillment. This set documents my creative exploration of her persona, freezing the essence of the Musou no Hitotachi forever in time.
