This Halloween-themed Rem cosplay outfit was shot on-site at a recent convention. Preparing the costume took quite a bit of time; keeping the large red-brimmed hat propped up was rather challenging, but to maintain fidelity to the character design, I insisted on using structured, rigid materials. The star decorations on the purple cape and the orange pumpkin plush ball on the chest added plenty of festive holiday vibes to the overall look.
The outfit was paired with a white ruffled bandeau top and long white gloves, while the bottom half featured a purple corseted skirt with red criss-cross lacing on the front. Speaking of the leg coordination, this look utilized white thigh-high Stockings with ruffle trims paired with black safety shorts, which visually elongated leg proportions while remaining very comfortable for walking around the convention.
During the shoot, the convention venue was crowded with a cluttered background. Holding both the lantern and trident props carried noticeable weight, making it quite difficult to find clean camera angles. The first close-up shot was taken with the photographer crouching on the ground, highlighting the lantern and upper-body details, as well as the blue wig and colored contacts. The second full-body shot utilized the venue's softboxes and lighting setup to capture the full pose—holding the trident in one hand and touching the hat brim with the other, a posture ideal for displaying leg lines in this Convention photography shoot.
For hair and makeup, the short blue wig was meticulously trimmed for a long time to fit the character, and the eye makeup was styled to capture her signature demeanor. In post-processing, the raw texture of the photos was preserved without excessive smoothing or shape distortion.
Wearing this costume while balancing the large hat on-site was genuinely hot, and the red hat occasionally blocked my vision, requiring continuous angle adjustments during the shoot so the brim wouldn't cast shadows over my eyes. The lantern's glass cover was made of real glass, creating great atmospheric depth when walking slowly with it, while the trident was made of lightweight plastic, making it easy to raise for posing.
The skirt hem and leg ornaments moved beautifully while walking; spinning around or walking sideways at the photographer's request produced wonderful dynamic effects. Passing cosplayers also chatted and shared shooting tips, which was another fun part of the event. These are my authentic impressions from shooting this Halloween look at the convention—overall a very special experience. The skirt and white Stockings flattered the figure nicely when walking through the hall, turning out great in the final photos.
