[Barbara Cosplay] Summer Genshin Impact Convention: CPSP Day 1 Record

A record of Barbara Cosplay photos from CPSP Anime Convention Day 1! The day's schedule was packed extremely tight; queuing outside the exhibition hall was as intense as ever. Once inside, I rushed straight to the HoYoverse booth as planned. Crowds swarmed the area as everyone enthusiastically squeezed in front of character merch stalls, and I joined in to pick out a few items. Although pushing through the crowd was quite tiring, it is precisely this shared passion that makes offline convention experiences so special. After finishing my fast-paced merch haul, I hurried off to the pre-booked photography studio.

By the time I arrived at the studio, it was already getting late. The indoor overhead lighting was messy, easily making face contours and wig details lose depth. I felt a bit apprehensive at the time, worrying the final photos wouldn't turn out well. Fortunately, the experienced photographer Hiiragisakana quickly observed the surroundings and led me to a huge floor-to-ceiling glass wall. Although natural light was softened through the glass, it remained soft and even, acting as an ideal diffuse light source. Lines formed by the window frames provided natural compositional guides, giving the entire set of photos a three-dimensional sense of spatial depth.

Considerable effort went into the costume details for this look. The classic blue-and-white sailor collar combined with delicate white lace featured finely finished edges. The yellow bow on the chest and the yellow duck plushie hanging at the waist served as key character accuracy points for this attire. The hair accessory featuring a white flower with a blue-and-white striped ribbon bow, paired with straight bangs and slightly wavy twin-tails, aimed to present a fresh and healing feel before the camera. To match Genshin Impact's Barbara pupil color, I wore bright blue contact lenses alongside a overall clean, translucent makeup style.

During the shoot, photographer Hiiragisakana skillfully utilized framed composition within the environment. Sitting on the tiled floor near the window, turning my body slightly along the window frame lines allowed leg lines, costume layering, and neck-and-shoulder curves to be beautifully highlighted. Whether resting my chin on my hand lost in thought or reaching out with a peace sign, every pose sought to capture that gentle yet energetic aura. This quieter seated composition also proved ideal for showcasing negative space around the shoulders and the structural design of the blue-and-white sailor suit.

The most satisfying aspect of this photo set is the blend of light, shadow, and fabric textures. Side-backlighting combined with blue tones outside the window rendered the overall image exceptionally clear. The blue-and-white color scheme naturally imparts a refreshing visual feel, accented by white flower sandals on my feet, bringing great balance to the entire outfit on camera. Compared to harsh direct speedlight flashes, this soft sweep of natural light left every wig strand and lace texture distinctly visible, enriching texture variations immensely.

Despite challenging lighting conditions that day, Convention photography under the photographer's professional guidance produced ideal results, rewarding the early-morning line queuing and arduous hair and makeup preparation. Reflecting on this CPSP Anime Convention trip, I hope future conventions offer more outdoor or window-side natural light settings for more relaxed photoshoots. Meeting so many friendly fellow fans at the venue who also love Barbara and Genshin Impact made the experience truly wonderful.
