[Hatsune Miku cosplay] Twintails Under Cool-Toned Neon Light

This photo set captures a Cyberpunk style for Hatsune Miku cosplay. To match the digital and electronic aura of the character, the scene was decorated with numerous circuit boards, retro television sets, and red-and-blue Neon light tubes. The core styling highlights include a black T-shirt featuring red-and-black graphic prints, paired with a semi-translucent clear jacket that produces stunning light refractions and reflections under the lighting. The wig features classic long blue Twintails; to keep them manageable, I used bobby pins to secure the curvature of the hair, trimmed the bangs evenly, and accentuated the character traits with light blue colored contacts and a black choker.

The trickiest part during shooting was that the clear material wrinkles easily, requiring constant posture adjustments between standing and crouching to keep the jacket smooth. For the crouching shots in particular, balancing on tiptoes was necessary to stabilize the body while maintaining both the camera perspective and visual depth, utilizing the linear Neon light to contour the legs. Because of the cool-toned light source, high demands were placed on makeup translucency; during initial lighting setup, we specifically added reflectors to brighten the illuminated side of the face. Post-processing focused heavily on smooth skin tone transitions and blending the red and blue flares to keep the image from looking harsh. Additionally, pairing classic high-top canvas sneakers with white crew socks provided solid footing on the metal platform, making poses feel much more natural. Finding time in spring for a studio shoot with such a hardcore style was super fun—bringing 2D character traits together with real-world light and shadow, and learning so much from on-set adjustments. Although it was my first time attempting studio photography with such intense Neon light, the final results truly delivered a fantastic visual experience.
