This Fantasy Westward Journey themed Swimsuit cosplay was a true test of physical endurance and patience. Unlike air-conditioned studios with controlled lighting, shooting at a Water park meant battling intense heat, humidity, and glaring sunlight. We gathered early in the morning to begin hair and makeup, and I am immensely grateful to my friends (仓大佬, 只是简言, 橙汁Zzz, borusushi狩司司, 轩久, KK好饿, 月月喝奶茶) for braving the elements with me, each putting tremendous care into their looks.
Humidity made wigs our biggest adversary—hair quickly lost volume, requiring twice the usual hairspray to hold structure across blonde, black, blue, red, and purple palettes. I wore a black mesh swimsuit paired with a butterfly-accented sheer wrap, black shorts, and clear platform heels to elongate leg proportions. Holding a single-leg raise near the slippery pool ledge demanded constant core, abdominal, and leg tension while keeping facial expressions relaxed and serene.
The azure pool and vibrant amusement rides provided a striking natural backdrop. Prolonged immersion in the water introduced real splashes that brought the shots to life, though managing wet fabric drape, waterproof cosmetics, and center-of-gravity stability required constant adjustments. Holding still for minutes while waiting for water ripples to calm resulted in crisp frames framed by blue skies, lush trees, and glittering waves. Combining classic IP nostalgia with summer vitality brought our 2D aspirations vividly into reality.
