[Ryougi Shiki cosplay] Aloof Sharpness in The Garden of Sinners

When shooting Ryougi Shiki from The Garden of Sinners, the core challenge lies in accurately capturing her chilly, commanding presence. The chosen attire features a black outer coat adorned with pink peony and yellow chrysanthemum patterns over a vibrant bright-pink lining—this striking color contrast stood out brilliantly in the studio. Since black fabric absorbs a lot of light, the photographer used a large circular softbox background light to carve out the silhouette against the pure white backdrop, preventing the dark garments from getting lost in the background. For props, white lilies arranged in a greenish-grey vase on a wooden table were tilted at an angle that mirrored my hand gestures, beautifully balancing the frame's composition.

The gear used was a Sony A7CM2 with a 20-70G lens set to a 63mm focal length, F5 aperture, 1/80s shutter speed, and ISO 250. This medium-telephoto length is ideal for half-body framing, maintaining natural body proportions with smooth bokeh and locking precise focus onto the face. In terms of portrayal, Ryougi Shiki's most captivating trait is her detached gaze that keeps the world at arm's length. To channel this, I tightened my shoulder line, turned slightly sideways, and refined my finger positioning dozens of times to complement a subtly defiant, cool demeanor. Special attention was paid to the tightness and pleating of the kimono obi sash during shooting to ensure the silhouette remained sleek and crisp. The pink-orange floral hairpiece pinned to the side of the wig was carefully adjusted so it wouldn't obstruct my view. The long stems and leaves of the white lilies were arranged to align with the angle of my leaning posture, forming a clean visual diagonal.

In post-processing, the focus was fine-tuning color saturation to preserve the purity of the pink and yellow floral motifs without clipping. The overall lighting turned out exceptionally clear and translucent, preserving both the cool-toned makeup and the tactile texture of the black fabric. It was a challenging yet rewarding shoot that faithfully captured the character's signature Fate/Grand Order and Type-Moon aesthetic.
